Oral Roberts University Lawsuit

Yesterday, October 1st, a news report stated that the Oral Roberts University was having a lawsuit brought against it by three former professors. Three professors are suing on the claim of that the university violated tax status and sexual harassment. All of this information is unknown. The lawsuit will find the truth to the claims of the three professors.

This is quite a shock of news for students at the university. I am a student at the university and was shocked to hear what I was told about the incident. I do not live on campus but I was informed of the lawsuit this Tuesday morning. On Monday nights the dorms have their hall meeting to discuss things going on each individual floor.

However last night, every student living on campus met in the Christ Chapel and was told to pray. They were also told there was a lawsuit being filed against the university. As I have been informed the students were not told what the lawsuit was addressing. They were just told a lawsuit was in the process of being filed and to pray. President Roberts was there at the campus chapel meeting.

I was also told that the internet in the dorms was not operating the night of the all campus chapel. Some students speculate that the university canceled the internet to avoid students from finding out the information before the chapel meeting. I have not heard another theory from any other students at the moment. But they all agree that something was going on.

Even in the morning, students said they could not log into their e-mail accounts or check the news online. Internet is working in the computer labs and in the classrooms. However I do not know if internet in the dorms is active yet.

The plantiffs of the lawsuit are :Dr. John Swails, Dr. Tim Brooker and Dr. Paulita Brooker.
The defendants are: Oral Roberts University, Richard Roberts, Dr. Mark Lewandowski, Dr. Wendy Shirk,and Dr. Jeff Ogle.

There are people who say yes the university is guilty. There are those who say no we are innocent. And there are those who think this is absoultely stupid. My opinion is my own and will not be written in this article. But we shall be watching what happens in the courts. I will say that last year all three of these professors were working on staff. Once this semester started they were not. People have said that one of the professors was "escorted" out of class and off campus. I have not seen it, only heard it. Another thing that comes to my mind. Billy Joe Daughrty who is the pastor of Victory Church. He was on the board of regents up until the start of the semester. And then he stepped down.
