Orange Cream Pops: A Review

Chen Salis
As the weather has been getting warmer my family has been asking for Popsicles and other frozen treats more often. While doing my grocery shopping I ran across a very affordable treat that I knew my family would enjoy. Cream Bars in the flavor of orange made by the Ziegenfelder Company in a 6 pack for the low price of $1 per box. Grape was another flavor option, but we are more interested in citrus flavors usually. At the price of 6 orange Popsicles filled with vanilla ice cream for $1 I could not pass this deal up.

These cream pops are a fairly generous size and look quite appealing, but after trying one I was not at all impressed with this product. I don't think the cream filling is real ice cream, it tasted like ice milk, which is something I have not had in many years, and do not enjoy at all. The orange Popsicle was also not really a great flavor either. It tasted quite strange, and to describe the flavor is like frozen kool-aide that hasn't been mixed with enough water. I was not a fan of the Ziegenfelder Companies Orange flavor Cream Pops. I feel that for the low quality I over paid for this box of frozen treats. I had never seen or purchased this brand of Frozen Cream pops before and I know I will definitely not purchase this brand again. I would not be likely to recommend this brand or product to others, as I feel that the frozen Cream Pops were quite gross.

When considering that there are many other store brands such as The Kroger or Great Value line of frozen ice cream and Popsicle treats are generally comparable in price to what I spent on the Ziegenfelder brand and the quality and flavor are by far superior.

Summer is approaching quickly and kids and parents alike will crave frozen treats with increasing frequency as the weather gets warmer. When looking for a frozen treat for your family, I would encourage you to look beyond the Ziegenfelder brand of orange Cream Pops. While affordable, this product is just not as flavorful and of high quality.

To focus on the positive aspects, the Ziegenfelder brand of orange flavored Cream Pops are low in calories, fat, cholesterol, and sugar. They do contain a small amount of calcium and protein in each frozen bar, and they are really low in cost.
