What better way to celebrate summer than to mimic the sun? While that big ball of fire is heating everything up, you can heat up your wardrobe with new bold orange fashion picks. Orange in the summer always looks fresh and fun. Shades of this zesty color suit sun-kissed skin, olive tones or naturally dark skin perfectly, but it also looks great on those who stay pale by choice!
Citrus shades for your skin. Choosing the right color orange can be tricky, but the truth is once you find the orange that works for you it can add an instant glow. Those with olive, dark or tanned skin can wear nearly any orange. Those who have pink undertones to their skin do best in coral or poppy shades. When shopping, hold the color up to your face. Either the color will make you appear pale, or it will brighten your complexion. Choose the shade that creates a spark; leave the dulling color for another girl.
Style tips. Once you find the right color it can be an energizing addition to your look, but it can also be a bit too much if you do not style it right. The following tips are only guidelines; when it comes to orange, there are few hard and fast rules.
Avoid black. If you are wearing a mainly orange outfit, as in a dress or a tunic top, pair it with neutral shoes to tone it down. Black shoes, heels or flats, create unfortunate Halloween connotations. Perfectly fine if you are going for that look in October, not so much when you are headed out to a dinner party.
No matchy-matchy. No need to go head to toe in orange. When it comes to orange outfits, you may also want to avoid matching shoes. Then again, if your personality is bold enough, you can pull it off with out looking like a can of Fanta. If you want to blend colors, you can go with gold shoes and accessories.
Compliments galore. With that said, complimentary colors are a fun way to wear orange. Add a bright turquoise scarf, or accent with hot pink or red. Whatever you decide, wear with confidence because the look will turn heads!
Ease into it. Start small. Carry an orange bag, or slip bright neon orange belt around your sundress. You can also get some of the warm vibe with a small splash of color on your fingers and toes with Creative Expressions Electric Orange polish. Jazz up your white summer dress with hints of orange; shoes, jacket, sun hat.
Go for the oomph factor. Dresses are my favorite way to approach a hot summer day. The following options can be slipped on and have you ready to go in no time flat!
