White butter cream frosting accented with orange: This cake has been frosted to mimic Swiss dot fabric. The orange in this cake is simple and not over powering. Be careful if you are having butter cream frosted cake at an outdoor wedding. The butter cream must be kept cool and out of the sun. When planning your reception lay out keep this in mind. You might want the cake table in an indoor area.
Cakes embellished with Orange Flowers: There are a lot of flowers that come in shades of orange such as: day lilies, roses, daisies, germaniums. Using fresh flowers make a simple and fresh statement. Decorating a cake with flowers could make a good DIY project. You could contact your local bakery and ask them just to provide you with a frosted cake. You could have them make it multi tiered or whatever shape you want. Then once the cake is delivered to the reception site, you could add a few flowers on the edges of the cake. The cake shown in the picture has a ribbon tied around the middle layer. This would also be an easy DIY touch to a cake.
The cake stand shown in this picture is very elegant with a rustic flair. Using a beautiful cake stand is a great way to present your cake. A cake could be very simple, accented with a few flowers and still look very elegant when presented this way.
Chocolate cake accented with orange lilies: The cakes featured so far have all been white cakes with white fondant or butter cream icing. For the chocolate lover, a chocolate cake is a must have for a wedding cake. The orange flowers look striking on a chocolate brown backdrop. An orange flavored chocolate cake could be an interesting choice for a cake favor.
Orange wedding cupcakes: Cupcakes are a trendy alternative to the regular wedding cake. By choosing cupcakes you could offer several different cake flavors. Cupcakes are easier to decorate your self rather than a whole orange cake. Cupcakes also can be the center piece of your wedding when displayed correctly. There are several pre made tiered cupcake stands that make the cupcakes look like they are one large cake. You can make your own stand or simply display them on pretty trays on your cake table. The cupcakes picture above shows that the bride and groom still have a little cake to cut into and feed each other just like a traditional cake.
Orange and another color combination: Orange is a great and unexpected color to mix with another color. The cake in the picture has orange, pink, green and some white mixed in. If you are a Virginia Tech Hokie or a Florida Gator Fan, you could represent your alma mater with an orange and maroon cake or a blue and orange cake.
