Orchids serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and their legendary Sunday brunch has been labeled "Oahu's Best Brunch" by Honolulu Magazine. The elaborate Sunday brunch is perfect for families vacationing on the island, who want to take a Sunday time-out and enjoy a fun, relaxing meal together in a wonderful island atmosphere. The Sunday buffet is offered from nine-thirty a.m. to two-thirty p.m.
Breakfast is served from seven-thirty to eleven a.m. on Monday through Saturday. Their menu includes waffles and pancakes (for around $10), Eggs Benedict dishes, Kalua Pork Hash, Omelettes, and New York Steak with Fried Eggs and Breakfast Potatoes ($20). Lunch at Orchids is served from eleven-thirty a.m. to two p.m. on Monday through Saturday. They offer an Executive Luncheon Menu, which changes every two weeks. Or you can choose from their regular menu, which features terrific salads and sandwiches, and seafood, chicken and beef dishes, ranging in price from $16 to $24.
For dinner, Orchids' contemporary seafood is hard to beat. I recommend their sauteed wild salmon, or the Kona Raised Maine Lobster. You can also choose from Roasted Colorado Lamb Chops, Filet Mignon or New York Steak, and Roasted Pepper Sliced Duck Breast. Entrees range in price, starting at around $20 and topping out at around $58 for the lobster.
Reservations at Orchids are essential. You can call them at 808-923-2311. Orchids is located at the Halekulani resort, at 2199 Kalia Road in Waikiki. With lots of tropical flowers and a stellar view, Orchids provides the perfect island atmosphere. The service is near-perfect, as it is upstairs at La Mer and the rest of the Halekulani resort. For further details and to take a virtual tour, you can view the resort's web site at halekulani.com.
Orchids should be your choice if you are seeking an elegant dining experience that is not overly formal. The casual atmosphere at Orchids is relaxing, and its setting is a feast for the senses. Considering the quality of food and service, the prices at Orchids are quite reasonable. Aloha, and enjoy your dining experience at Orchids at the Halekulani resort in Waikiki, Hawaii.
