Ordinary, Extraordinary Things

(I Would Stumble Without the Humble Showerhead)

Thank God for ordinary, extraordinary inventions

Without this gadget, I could imagine a desert

And nevermore know the warm caress and comfort

That flows in a home or apartment

"Showerhead" by name and comforting game I can afford

2

Trust me (once and always a farmer boy);

I recall using a pail with cup to bathe myself ...

But an ordinary showerhead gives me greater joy

As it redirects piped water in massaging jets

3

I am no prude, neither am I seeking to be rude

When I do not celebrate proverbial golden baths

This little thing, the showerhead, improves my mood

In any bathroom; I cannot do tubs and bubblebaths!

4

Of all the ordinary, extraordinary inventions, then

I sing of that which fits at the end of a pipe

It transforms water into a luxury for all men

And dare I say, for all humans past kindergarten!

5

Now, readers all, if you hear a stranger in your baths;

Could it be that I am singing across the miles,
Celebrating the grime running past head and toes?
Yes, I am feeling healing while cleaning with "showerhead smiles" -
Thank God for ordinary, extraordinary inventions

  • Do you celebrate the little gadget at the end of your piped bath-water? I declare that showerheads
  • do clean bodies & baths themselves more safely & enjoyably than regular tub-soaks and bubblebaths!
  • And yes, I am a romantic (and I say it with flowers, not bubbles in my own grimy bathwater, LOL!)
I plan to conduct research in the near future that bath-tubs do not help us clean ourselves as well as showers do with its jet sprays and ordinary filtering.
