The Portland Journal
There is no stone being left unturned in the continuing investigation into the West Coast Bank bombing in Woodburn. Police have arrested the Joshua Abraham Turnidge's father. Bruce Turnidge (57) has been accused of helping mastermind the bombing plot. While his son Joshua carried out the attack, leaving a hoax device at Wells Fargo Bank. Which is on the same block as the West Coast Bank, where a device believed to be a hoax at the time detonated.

Joshua (37) who was up in court yesterday facing charges of, two counts of attempted aggravated murder, manufacture of a destructive device, possession of a destructive device, first- and second-degree assault and conspiracy to commit all of the crimes with one or more unidentified persons. Which may yet see Joshua face the death penalty. The charges of attempted aggravated murder fall in to three parts, meaning Joshua Turnidge will be facing six counts of aggravated murder. Those parts are, causing the intentional death of multiple people in the same incident, causing the intentional death of a law enforcement officer in the line of duty and causing the intentional death by explosives.

There has been a statement of probable cause issued. Which states how police and law enforcement officials had been led to the first suspect, Joshua Abraham Turnidge. This has been shown in the trial.

In relation to Bruce Turnidge's involvement, authorities have not stated exactly what part he has played in the crime. But he is expected to be questioned on Thursday in Marion County Circuit Court. Details of the charges are, conspiracy to manufacture an explosive device and conspiracy to possess an explosive device.

Investigators have been searching land at a 750 acre farm, just south of Salem, on Potts Road. Where father Bruce lives. Investigators have been going through fields near the property, a white farmhouse, and a shop next to the road in hopes they can turn something up of interest to the investigation.

Some happier news from the story is that Woodburn Police Chief Scott Russell's condition in OSHU, is starting to improve. He was critically injured along with the two officers killed. (Woodburn Police Captain Tom Tennant and Oregon State Police Bomb Technician William Hakim.) It has been revealed though he is still critically ill, and had been placed in a medically induced coma. Sadly he has lost one leg, and although his other was severed in the explosion. Surgeons managed to reattatch it and save the leg.

Jason Tlusty a Sergeant at Woodburn Police Department has said. "He is stable ... he's getting stronger every day and looking better, Captain Blevins has talked to him, so he is no longer in that medically-induced coma."

Police are still asking for information, with a $35,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of those involved. The 'Tip Line' telephone number is 1-888-780-5678.
