Oregon Vs. Oregon State: 2010 College Football TV Time & Predictions

Simon Nguyen
The 2010 college football game between in-state rivals Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers (host) is set for Saturday December 4 (3:30 PM EST) at Reser Stadium. ABC Sports will broadcast this pivotal contest. This will be the only meeting between the Ducks and Beavers in 2010. Oregon is #2 in the BCS standings with a perfect 11-0 record; Oregon State is 5th in the Pac-10 with a 5-6 overall record. This article provides predictions and TV time for the 2010 Oregon-Oregon State college football game.

1) Ducks-Beavers Rivalry

Saturday's "Civil War" game is the 114th meeting between rivals Oregon and Oregon State. Since 2000, the Ducks and Beavers have played 10 times with each team winning 5 games. Oregon is currently enjoying a 2-game winning streak over its in-state rival, though Oregon State was very close to pulling off a big upset last year. The Ducks is looking to advance to its first BCS championship, while the Beavers need a big win for a shot at a Bowl game.

2) Darron Thomas vs. Ryan Katz

The 2010 rivalry game between Oregon and Oregon State pits two sophomore quarterbacks against each other. This will be the first head-to-head meeting between Darron Thomas and Ryan Katz. Thomas has enjoyed a fine season to date. Through 12 games, he has thrown for 2373 yards with 26 touchdowns and a strong QB rating of 152. Katz, on the other hand, has not been as impressive. The Oregon State's quarterback has thrown for 2177 passing yards with 15 TDs. In last weekend's 38-0 loss to Stanford, Katz suffered the worst game of his career with 0 touchdown and 3 interceptions.

3) Chip Kelly vs. Mike Riley

The Oregon Ducks could not have asked for a better opponent, two games away from a trip to the BCS championship. The nation's top offense is set to play against one of college football's worst defensive teams in the Oregon State Beavers. The Ducks come into this rivalry game, having scored more points than any other football team in the country. Curiously, passing yards per game is the only offensive category Oregon does not dominate. This is mostly due to the team's fantastic running game, which ranks 5th overall. On the defensive front, Chip Kelly's crew has been surprisingly effective limiting its opponents to only 18 points a game.

The Oregon State Beavers is one of the overachievers this season. The team enjoys a respectable 4-4 record in the Pac-10, despite having a poor season statistically. The team ranks 80th in points scored, 96th in rushing, and 60th in points allowed. Aside from the one bad loss against Stanford, the team has actually held its own against several ranked teams. Oregon State was able to beat both USC and Arizona, in addition to nearly upsetting TCU and Boise State. Still, the Beavers will mostly likely need a serious meltdown by Oregon to win this rivalry contest.

My prediction for the 2010 college football game between Oregon and Oregon State: the Ducks easily defeats its Pac-10 rival by a score of 52-29. Kickoff time for the game is 3:30 PM EST. ABC Sports will broadcast the highly anticipated game.

The cow says "Moo". The Dog says "Woof". The Cat says "Meow", and The Beaver says "Quack". No underdog win here, just pure, aggressive, effortless mangling by our Oregon Ducks. ;-)
