Oregon Zoo New Exhibits and Halloween Fun This October

CJMathis
The Oregon Zoo in Portland, Oregon has many new exhibits and some great fun events upcoming. The Red Ape Reserve is complete now and open for visitors.

This new exhibit will make visitors feel as if they are actually traveling through the fragile Southeast Asian lands of the wild Orangutans. This new Oregon Zoo exhibit also houses the white-cheeked gibbons. Learn about Orangutan conservation and enjoy viewing these magnificent creatures with nothing more than a piece of glass between your noses.

The new indoor exhibit is 820 sq feet and was designed to provide enrichment for the Orangutans and White-Cheeked Gibbons. This exhibit was built-in a way that the animals are able to use 100 percent of the vertical space within the indoor exhibit.

The outdoor exhibit is 5,400 square feet, which allows Oregon Zoo's Orangutans to enjoy foliage, water features and even the great weather of the Pacific Northwest. This outdoor exhibit is mesh-enclosed and is filled with natural foliage and some sway poles and vines to enable the Orangutans and gibbons the fun of swinging as they would in the wild.

The Oregon Zoo is known world-wide for its conservation programs and innovative ways o make life for the animals in their care feel as if they are at home in the wild while still allowing the visitors and guests a close encounter to take memories home.

When visiting the Oregon Zoo take in the animals from Asia, Africa, the Pacific Shores and the Great Northwest.

This October be sure to visit for some Halloween fun and enjoy the events of October.

On October 29 enjoy the annual Squash Squish - watch as a giant pumpkin is given to our elephant family, their interaction with the squash and the fun they all have making their idea of pumpkin pie.

For those with children a visit to the Oregon Zoo on October 30-31 from 11 am - 4 pm your little goblins and ghouls can participate in a Halloween scavenger hunt. This will lead them through the Oregon Zoo to many activity stations for fun and prizes. At the end of their exciting Halloween adventure each child will receive a Goodie Bag filled with Candy and Prizes. A great day of fun, education, and safe Halloween activity for those who enjoy the Oregon Zoo is in store.

The Oregon Zoo is always updating their exhibits and finding adventures for their visitors for each and every day and season of the year. My family visits the zoo almost once a month for these exciting new adventures.

wow, amazing how the elephant almost disappears next to the tree background. How did the Squish Squash go today? Sounds like your zoo is more fun than a barrel of monkeys!

We just went to the country's largest natural habitat zoo this weekend. It was awesome! Sounds like I would enjoy this one too.

This sounds like a good zoo, where the animals have a more natural environment. Thanks for the news.
