Pacific City - is a small, unincorporated village with a population of around 900 along the Oregon Coast. Generally explained as sitting in the central coast area of the Oregon coast just drive down or up Hwy 101 and Pacific City is right there. Visit the town of Pacific City, spend the night at a reasonably priced motel or rent a beach cabin for your stay. Pacific City Beach is one of the few beaches along the Oregon Coast that visitors can drive their automobiles. Sit along the shore and enjoy the waves, watch the surfers and have a great day making sand castles, eating picnic lunches or just sun bathing.
Fogarty Beach is located just north of Depot Bay along Hwy 101. Fogarty Beach is where the creek meets the ocean. Sheltered from wind along the Oregon coast Fogarty Beach is a great place for fun in the sun. Picnicking along the beach or just up off the beach at the Fogarty Park along the creek, picnic tables, rest rooms and parking are located at the Park above the beach. At Fogarty Beach visitors can picnic, fish or walk the hiking trails or hike along the beautiful coastline.
Gleneden Beach is located just South of Salashan Lodge and Golf Course. Gleneden Beach is a quite beach as many visitors do not take the cut off to Gleneden Beach. A nice beach for agate, shell searching and also a wonderful place to play in the surf along the shore of the Oregon Coast. It is important to note that the Ocean can be dangerous no matter where you are along the Oregon Coast so children and even adults need to take caution when playing in the surf.
Sunset Beach is just North of Seaside, Oregon and South of Astoria, Oregon. Also along Hwy 101, Sunset Beach is also one of Oregon's beaches that allow automobiles on the sandy shores. Many weekends will find a horse trailer and many horses for rent at the opening to Sunset Beach. For those who enjoy riding horseback along the beach shores one can find this a fun activity while visiting the Oregon Coast.
Anyone of these four beach locations along the Oregon Coast is a great place for playing in the sand, Kite flying, boogie boarding, surfing and walking along the shores. As stated earlier be careful when in the surf and if the weather has been bad previous to your visit , as the shoreline is dangerous with logs and other items floating in the waves.
Another important note for beach goers is to not touch any wildlife that you may find along the beaches of the Oregon Coast. Be sure to contact the authorities if a seal, bird, or whale is found beached along the coastline. Oregon puts forth a huge effort to keep its coastal areas free of harmful debris and assisting any wildlife when issues arise.
