Oreo Berry Burst Ice Cream Cookies

Whenever possible, I try to eat a specific product while I am reviewing it. Such is the case now, as I set out to review the new Oreo Berry Burst Ice Cream Cookies. Sitting on a paper towel a few feet away from where I am typing are two of these brown and pink cookies. Oops, make that one and a half.

This new variety of Oreo cookies is definitely different from the original variety and I think it would be a good product to review. Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is one food writer's product review of Oreo Berry Burst Ice Cream Cookies.

The net weight of the standard sized package of Oreo Berry Burst Ice Cream Cookies is 15.25 ounces. The package holds 14 two cookie servings. This serving size seems accurate to me. Two of these cookies are just the right size portion to satisfy my sweet cravings and dessert appetite.

The regular retail price charged for one 15.25 ounce package of Oreo Berry Burst Ice Cream Cookies at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets is approximately $2.99. That works out to roughly $0.11c per cookie.

When I recently purchased these cookies, the sale price was $1.99 per package.

Texture / Consistency
This new and colorful variety of Oreo cookies maintains essentially the same texture as regular style Oreo cookies, except for the little red berry specks that dot the pink creme filling. The mouth - feel offered by the creamy filling in Oreo Berry Burst Ice Cream Cookies is quite pleasing, but it doesn't remind me of ice cream.

Taste / Flavor
Through the years, I have eaten several different types of Oreo cookies, many of them at an AA meeting that I often attend. The first time I saw these cookies was at that meeting, but I did not eat them that night. I must admit, I was intrigued by the color of the filling, though.

When I saw Oreo Berry Burst Ice Cream Cookies on sale at a local supermarket a couple of weeks ago, I didn't hesitate in buying a package. The first thing I did when I arrived at home with the groceries was to open the package of cookies and pop one of them in my mouth.

My tastebuds didn't know what to think as they reacted to the flavor of this new variety of Oreos. What I tasted was an amalgamation of flavors. The familiar, comforting flavor of the chocolate wafers was almost over - shadowed by the vibrant, slightly intense berry 'burst' that these cookies indeed do deliver.

What I taste predominantly is a raspberryish flavor that resembles that of a very sweet bubble gum or sherbet. These cookies taste good to me, when I eat one or two of them. More than that would be overkill to me. I'm only guessing, but it seems like the flavor of these cookies would appeal greatly to members of the younger set. On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this product a rating of 8.75.

Packaging
Oreo Berry Burst Ice Cream Cookies are packaged in a standard - type Oreo cookies package. The plastic like front label features an illustration of one of the opened cookies and also includes an easy - open and close flap that provides easy access to the cookies. The rear label also lists all relevant ingredient and nutritional information.

Overall Rating
All things considered, Oreo Berry Burst Ice Cream Cookies are definitely a unique variety of Oreos. The pink berry - flavored creamy filling in these cookies is pretty tasty, but its flavor is fairly intense.

This new variety of Oreo cookies is not stocked everywhere yet. They offer a generally pleasing flavor and I would recommend them, but I also think that one or two of these cookies is enough to eat at one time.
