Oreo Cakester Snack Cake's

Oreo Cakesters by Nabisco

While these new soft snack cakes are chocolatey and sweet I think that Nabisco should stick to making regular cookies and leave the snack cakes to hostess. Oreo's have been around for years to the delight of many generations, however in the last few years Nabisco has been making a drive to branch out on the Oreo name. With the different choices of fillings now being offered on the shelves they seem to have decided it was time to attach the Oreo name to a new type of treat.

The cookies have a nice texture, not so soft that they fall apart and make a mess yet soft enough to almost melt in you mouth when you take a bite. The flavor is somewhat similar to hostess snack cakes though not as good. Not at all what I was expecting, I had thought that Nabisco would use the original Oreo cookie filling in these but that is not the case. The cookie itself is slightly dry with a bit of a charcoal taste as though a cheap chocolate was used instead of the high quality chocolate that comes to mind when you think Oreo.

The majority of the kids that taste tested them for me said that they would rather have something else. They all agreed that they would eat them again if they were offered but that they would not pick them if given a choice. My own kids told me not to bother buying them again that they'd rather I bought original Oreo cookies.

Per serving they leave a little to be desired at 23g of sugar, 36g of carbohydrate's and 250 calories per every two cookies. I can think of much better tasting treats to spend my calorie intake on, in fact I would rather have a Little Debbie snack cake!

The price of the cookies is reasonable; my local super Wal-mart offered them at $2.50 a box this week. This is a fairly average price for a box of name brand cookies. However due to the overwhelming disappoint in the cookies I found it to be a wasted $2.50 this time around.

In conclusion it's my opinion that if your sweet tooth is aching and you're hunting for a sweet chocolate snack cake with cream filling you would be better off buying a box of Hostess snacks and leaving the Oreo Cakesters on the shelf for the next person.

I emphatically disagree with this review. Cakesters are money. They taste just like Ding Dongs. I highly recommend them.

If you give a mouse a Cakester, it's not going to want any milk.
