Who would have thought that I would actually find a low fat substitute for my one of my favorite snacks, Oreo cookies. My mom suggested that I try Oreo Thin Crisps 100 Calorie Packs from Nabisco. She said that they really do taste like the real thing. I have to admit I was a bit skeptic at first but gave it a shot anyway. Wow, was I surprised. They are delicious. However, nothing beats a real Oreo cookie dunked in a nice cold glass of milk.

The 100 Calorie Packs Oreo thin crisps have 0 g Trans Fat, 2 g of fat, and 0 mg of Cholesterol. They come 6 bags in a box. Each bag is 23 g or .81 oz. A serving size is one bag with 100 calories in each bag. There are 15 calories from fat per serving. There are 19 g of carbohydrates in each serving. There are 8 g of sugar and less than 1 g of dietary fiber.

I would say that if you are able to eat only one bag, then these are a great low fat alternative to the extremely fattening real Oreo cookie. If you end up eating more than one bag at a sitting, you were probably better off just eating one or two of the real cookie. My problem is portion control. That is why I like the conveniently prepackaged one serving sized bag. It helps to keep your portions under control.

These baked chocolate wafer snacks have 6 sides to them. They are dark brown/black with white speckles on top. Each wafer is about the size of a quarter. I find that the best way to eat them is not to bite into them, but to let them dissolve in your mouth. This way you will taste the real Oreo flavor. If you just bite into them, you don't taste the flavor as much. They do tend to leave a little after taste in your mouth. I usually wash them down with a little iced tea. Don't expect them to taste exactly like the real Oreo cookie, but I was surprised to see how close they come to the real thing.

I was also pleasantly surprised to see how many wafers come in one bag. I was expecting maybe five or six but there is more like a dozen in each bag. Most 100 calorie snack bags only have a few in them. These would be great to bring with you when you are going to see a movie. Instead of buying fattening popcorn drenched in butter, you can easily slip these in your bag or jacket and enjoy a nice healthy snack. These were definitely worth the money. I bought a box of six bags at Target for $3.00. I haven't been able to find them at my local King Kullen Supermarket.

If you are looking for a quick, low fat, chocolate snack, than the Oreo Thin Crisps 100 Calorie Packs from Nabisco are really the way to go. They aren't expensive and they fulfill my chocolate craving every time.
