Organic Baby Clothes

Organic items are all the rage as we become more environmentally conscious, especially regarding the items that come into contact with our children. As our awareness grows about the danger of synthetic materials and their exposure to chemicals, organic clothing - just like organic diapers and baby supplies are going to see an increase in demand.

Why is it important to purchase organic for your baby? It is important to purchase products that enable sustainable farming, sustainable products and most important a sustainable earth. Using organic products helps to ensure that the earth will be sustainable for your Childs future. Not only this, but by using organic products you are saving your child from exposure to hundreds of chemicals found in traditional clothing.

Before new clothing is purchased it comes into contact with many chemicals, harsh chemicals, and some known carcinogens and is stored in an environment laden with cleaning chemicals, preservatives as well as chemical processes and dyes.

There are three main fabrics used in the production of organic clothing for babies. These varieties include: organic cotton, bamboo and hemp.

Organic cotton has been used for decades and comes without the harmful processing that regular cotton endures before being worn. Organic cotton is not only stronger than regular cotton, but lasts months longer than regular baby clothes. Organic cotton is softer on the skin on the infant and will lead to less irritation than regular cotton. Organic cotton is grown in soil that is free from pesticides and other inorganic nature, with regular cotton - these chemicals remain in the clothing, throughout hundreds of washes.

Bamboo is another material that we are seeing a rise of in baby clothing and crib blankets. The benefits to using bamboo are: the moisture absorbing qualities, the softness of the fabric, and is one of the most fast drying materials. Bamboo can be washed and dried like usual clothing and maintains good shape and color while withstanding washing and drying.

Hemp is one of the sturdiest fabrics that can be grown organically and is therefore perfect for babies, once it has been refined. Although hemp is often treated with many things to refine it, none of these ingredients are synthetic - as it is one of the most natural fabrics.

Parade clothing offers organic clothing, even as far down to the snaps being nickel free, which can be harmful to infants. Each of the items available through Parade come from a fair trade market and not manufactured in sweat shops. Onesies can be purchased for as little as sixteen dollars, which is comparable to other brands that are not organic.

Many brands offer organic baby clothing: Essere Organics, Ethic Baby Shops, Jonano and all sorts of other websites on the internet. Another good option to find organic baby clothes are at the local market. Often times, farmers that offer organic produce also offer organic fabric which mothers can create the clothing from.

Making the choice to shop organic for your infant could improve the quality of health, improve skin conditions, or prevent skin conditions from occurring as well as ensure a sustainable future. Organic products are becoming competitively priced with traditional products, and therefore, there is no reason not to shop organic.
