Organic Baby Food - Is it Really Worth It?

Abbitha
It seems like every time you turn on the news today you hear about a food being recalled or about a new type thing that they have found is toxic that is in our food. It makes you want to be able to choose the best food for you and your baby, so is organic baby food the best choice? Organic baby food is produced without conventional pesticides, antibiotics or growth hormones. It is important because since your baby of toddler is so small any chemicals or toxins in their food will be more concentrated in their body. You might be wondering if you can afford organic baby food for your baby, or is it so expensive that its not worth it. There are lots of different brands of organic baby foods out there, but I am going to cover the brands that are easily accessible to everyone, so the bigger brands that most people could find in a store near them. The products that I am going to talk about you should be able to find in your local grocery store or your local target or walmart.

One of the most popular brands of baby food is Gerber. Gerber is now making organic baby food. You can usually find Gerber in any store that you are buying baby food at, and you can also usually find their organic line. Gerber's' Organic baby food line is not much more costly then their regular line. The only downside is there is usually less of a selection of kinds of foods.

Earths best is a complete line of organic baby foods, they also have organic toddler foods. When I compared prices earths best was usually the same price as the majority of the non organic brands. They have a good variety of flavors and products. You can find Earths Best organic baby food in most major retailers.

Macaroni and cheese is a favorite meal of many babies and toddlers, so if this is something they are going to be eating often you want it to be as healthy as possible. I know I want my daughter to have healthy mac & cheese, and I think the next best thing to homemade is Annie's Homegrown. Annie's Homegrown is a completely organic line of pasta meals and snacks. When I compare prices in the store Annie's is usually the same price as the other "Blue box" brand of macaroni and cheese. Annie's Homegrown has all kinds of products from cereals and crackers to simple skillet meals for the whole family.

So is organic baby food worth it? I believe it is. If you check out prices when you shop you can buy organic baby foods for you baby for about the same price. I think since nobody is completely sure how the different pesticides and chemicals can effect ours and our babies bodies that I would rather be on the safe side and feed my baby organic baby food.

babies may be at a higher risk to the toxins found in nonorganic food because baby food is often made up of condensed fruits, concentrating pesticide residues. Children's developing bodies are especially vulnerable to damage from toxic chemicals.

Buying organic can be very affordable if you shop around. I've found BabiesRUs to have the best sales if you're a member. I've bought Earth's Best 4oz jars for 50 cents each during special sales (less than some regular baby food prices so why wouldn't you buy?).
Another option is drugstore.com. They sometimes have sales and if you go through the discover card website (people with discover credit cards probably know this) you get an additional 5% cash back reward. I've bought Plum Organics pouches for less than a dollar each on sale.
Another okay option is ecomom.com but only when they're having a sale and/or you use a first time 15% discount code (SB004964). I buy the plum organic training meals there.

    Hope this helps :o>

Solid review, although I don't have children of my own, yet, the organic food concept is applicable to more than just baby foods. Good style in your writing, maybe you should consider reviewing more on organic produce etc. Stay in touch!

I was a huge fan of organic baby food for my daughter when she was little. Granted, at the time, all of the stores mainly had Gerber and anything else was nearly impossible to find, but now I see the stores with more and more different types for infants of all ages.
