Organic Black Beans Review: S&W Premium Organic Black Beans
These Organic Black Beans Are Cheap but the Ones that Cost More Taste Better.
Although the can of organic black beans was not on sale it still only cost ninety-six cents. This was cheaper than the other one but they were at a grocery store that I didn't shop at as much. I was glad that I found them for so cheap and figured it wouldn't hurt to try out a can. However before adding the can of S & W Premium Organic Black Beans to my shopping cart I wanted to make sure that the black beans were vegetarian. The ingredients of these black beans are organic prepared black beans, water, sea salt, organic sugar and organic onion. I thought that it was great that they were already seasoned, and with sea salt over table salt, and that they had some organic onion in them, I was sure this would add some nice flavor. The next time that I make black bean veggie burgers I used this can.
The S & W Premium Organic Black Beans were very easy to mash up. Before mashing them up I tasted a few. I thought that they had a nice flavor, not too bland but definitely not really well seasoned either though. They also were not too mushy but cooked to a nice tenderness that allowed me to mash them up easily. The overall taste of the black bean veggie burgers were really good, and I am sure that the can of black beans played a big part in that. In the recipe that I used the entire can make six patties. There was about one and three-fourths of a cup of organic black beans in the can and this was about three and a half servings. This meant that each veggie burger had about half of a serving or one-fourth of a cup of beans in it. I was curious to see what a serving of organic black beans offered in the way of nutrition.
In half of a cup of S & W Premium Organic Black Beans there was one hundred and ten calories with ten calories from fat. There was not any milligrams listed for cholesterol which was nice but there was three hundred and eighty milligrams listed for sodium in a half of a cup serving. A serving of these organic black beans also offered seventeen grams for carbohydrates, one gram of sugar, six grams of both fiber and protein and in the minerals and vitamins section it listed four percent for calcium and twice that for iron. Overall I thought that the nutrition facts looked okay. I was glad to see what the beans were adding to overall nutrition of the veggie burgers. I certainly didn't have any regrets about getting the can.
After tasting the beans and seeing that they taste good I had to think about how often I would want to get them. On one hand I would be saving close to a dollar going with them, however I didn't think that they were nearly as great as the Westbrae Natural ones that I had. Plus I really enjoy supporting that company. I can't say that I will never get a can of S & W Premium Organic Black Beans again but I will say that if I can afford to do so I will choose the other organic black beans. It is nice to think that there is a second option if I can't find those ones I prefer and if I just need to save a little bit more money. I would recommend for anyone to try the S & W Premium Organic Black Beans but at the end of the day I would highly recommend the others.
