Organic Breakfast Burrito Review: Amy's Organic Non-Dairy Breakfast Burrito
Even Though This Breakfast Burrito Didn't Contain Any Eggs it was Still Really Good
I wasn't looking for a non-dairy burrito or a breakfast burrito when I came across the Amy's Organic Non-Dairy Breakfast Burrito but I was glad to have found it. In addition to being non-dairy it was also cholesterol free, lactose free, vegan, kosher, corn free and tree nut free. It was very clear the company took people's health and common allergies in to consideration. One thing that I was most curious about was the fact that the breakfast burrito was vegan. This would mean that the organic breakfast burrito could not contain any milk products, like cheese, and it couldn't contain any eggs. Both cheese and eggs tend to be very important ingredients in the making of a breakfast burrito so I was interested in seeing how the company was going to pull this burrito off. I looked over the ingredients to see what the organic tortilla contained.
The ingredients of the Amy's Organic Non-Dairy Breakfast Burrito were organic whole wheat and wheat flour, organic tofu made of filtered water, organic soybeans and nigari, organic tomatoes, organic potatoes, organic onions, organic black beans, expeller pressed high oleic safflower oil, filtered water, organic bell peppers, tapioca flour, sea salt, organic garlic, spices and organic jalapeno peppers. Nagari is magnesium chloride which is a natural firming agent. I thought that this list of ingredients was really nice looking. I had a feeling that the eggs in the non-dairy organic breakfast burrito would be replaced with tofu. The remaining ingredients sounded actually really good and I was looking forward to tasting this organic breakfast burrito, even though I am not that crazy about breakfast burritos.
I thought that the overall taste of this Amy's Organic Non-Dairy Breakfast Burrito was actually really good. I can't say that I was in love with the taste but it was definitely one of the best breakfast burritos that I have had. A I enjoyed the breakfast burrito I looked over the nutrition facts of this non-dairy burrito. The burrito contained two hundred and fifty calories with seventy calories from fat. It also had five hundred and forty milligrams of sodium, thirty-eight grams of carbohydrates, five grams of fiber, four grams of sugars and nine grams of protein. In the minerals and vitamins portion of the nutrition facts for this breakfast burrito there was four percent listed for vitamin A, six percent listed for calcium, ten percent for vitamin C and twice that listed for iron. I thought that the nutrition facts were pretty good.
In the end I was happy that I got to try this burrito but there were a couple things about it that made me decide not to get it regularly. One of the first reasons is that it has soy and I plan on limiting the amount of soy that I get in my diet. The next thing that will keep me from getting it a lot is the price. It was on sale for two dollars and seventy-nine cents, which is quite a lot to spend on something that you can not really just eat and get full. Finally the baking process for this breakfast burrito is very, very annoying. I happily don't have a microwave and was happy to see that the Amy's Organic Non-Dairy Breakfast Burrito listed conventional oven directions. However the directions were to bake the burrito for nearly an hour and three hundred and fifty degrees. In the Summer this is unfortunate because it heats up my apartment and you have to think about wanting the burrito an hour in advance. I would only recommend getting this breakfast burrito if you could afford the nearly three dollar price of it and if you didn't mind the cooking directions. The microwave oven directions required you to cook the burrito for about three minutes, so I suppose if you use a microwave you may be more inclined to get this non-dairy breakfast burrito. I have no intentions of getting a microwave anytime soon, if ever, and so I really don't see myself getting this non-dairy breakfast burrito very often at all.
