Organic Cereal Review: Cascadian Farm Organic Purley O's Cereal

This Cereal was Not Too Sweet and it was Very Healthy for You

I just recently had a bowl of Cascadian Farm Organic Purely O's Cereal. It was a cereal that I found for my son a while back but we had yet gotten to open it yet. Prior to trying it we tried Cascadian Farm Organic Honey Nut O's Cereal, among many other organic cereals from this company. I bought this cereal and the honey version because on average I don't care for honey cereals and prefer the plain version. My son on the other hand usually is happy to take either. I figured we would try both and then know which one we would want to get again in the future. Here is was I thought about the Cascadian Farm Organic Purely O's Cereal.

When my son first tried this cereal I could tell he was a little bit disappointed in the change of how sweet the cereal was. I can't say I was disappointed but I did like the honey version slightly more myself as well. I thought that the Cascadian Farm Organic Purely O's Cereal tasted good and it certainly was not bland. With some fruit I didn't even miss the other cereal. I have to admit too that I felt better about getting a cereal that did not contain honey as I plan on having a vegan diet in the future. After seeing the cereal differed in taste I wondered how it differed in ingredients.

The ingredients of Cascadian Farm Organic Purely O's Cereal are organic whole grain oat flour, organic whole grain barley flour, organic wheat starch, sea salt, calcium carbonate, zinc and iron, niacinamide, vitamin C, calcium pantothenate, vitamin B6, thiamin mononitrate, vitamin A, floic acid, vitamin D and vitamin E. One thing that I noticed was that there was not any added sugar to the cereal. I thought that this was great, as sugar was the second ingredient in the honey version of this cereal. It contained all the nutrients and vitamins listed in the other cereal so I hoped that Cascadian Farm Organic Purely O's Cereal would contain all the wonderful nutrition facts of the other cereal too.

In a cup of this cereal there is one hundred and ten calories with fifteen calories from fat. Cascadian Farm Organic Purely O's Cereal contains two hundred and eighty milligrams of sodium in every cup as well as three grams of both fiber and protein and twenty two grams of carbohydrates. Here is where there was a huge difference in the new cereal, it only had one gram of sugars where as the honey one had eight grams of sugars. This was certainly a plus. Understandably the cereal had listed ten percent for both vitmain A and vitamin C in the minerals and vitamins section of the nutrition facts as well as fifteen percent for calcium and forty five percent for iron. This cereal was clearly healthier.

Overall I thought that Cascadian Farm Organic Purely O's Cereal was great. While I still plan on getting the honey version from time to time or until my vegan diet kicks in I know that I will be more likely to get this cereal. Even though taste wise it wasn't as sweet I still thought that it tasted good and the nutrition that it offers and the ingredients were more to my liking. I have not convinced my son that this is the better choice but I think that it will grow on him. I would recommend for anyone to give this cereal a try, especially if they do not care for honey cereals or avoid honey in their diet and are looking for a very healthy organic cereal.
