Organic Clothing Company: Autonomie Project

Eco-friendly, Sweatshop-free, Vegan Clothing and Accessories

Britt Baker
Organic clothing companies are sprouting up all over now that eco-friendly lifestyles are becoming more popular, as more and more reports about damage to the environment are heard and read on the news. One organic clothing company that is making it's mark is Autonomie Project, Inc. Along with being organic, Autonomie Project is also a sweatshop-free and vegan clothing company, as well.

Autonomie Project was launched towards the end of 2007 in a quest by its founders for affordable, ethical clothing that is also "wearable." Their desire to form a company that sent out a strong message for sustainablitiy and social and environmental responsibility is noticeable in their various lines of products, which include the UK brand Ethletic footwear, organic printed tees, organic blank tees, baby and youth clothing, and handbags.

The Ethletic brand is a Fair Trade, eco-friendly UK brand of footwear, and the Autonomie Project is the exclusive distributor of the brand in both the US and Canadian markets. As well as being Fair Trade and eco-friendly, all of the Ethletic brand footwear is vegan, as well, and it is available in both adults' and children's sizes.

This organic clothing company also offers a number of blank and printed organic tees that have been made in the USA and are quite affordable. The highest priced organic tees cost $26, and some tees are on sale for as low as $13. Many of the tees this organic clothing company has to offer are made from recycled fabrics, such as repurposed cotton fabric scraps, as well as recycled plastic soda bottles. They also support organizations such as Farm Sanctuary.

The organic clothing and accessories in Autonomie Project's baby and youth lines include hoodies, zip sweatshirts, short sleeve tees, long sleeve tees, one-sies, playsuits, bibs, and kids footwear. Many of this organic clothing company's children's products are also imprinted with positive messages, like "Wind Farm," "One Love," and "Free Range."

Autonomie Project's fair trade handbags are also notable as they have been handmade by a rural Peru women's knitting cooperative. Made from organic cotton yarns that have been 100% Fair Trade certified and are naturally died, these organic handbags are much more eco-friendly than the majority of handbags for sale.

You can purchase eco-friendly products from this incredibly organic clothing company on their website, as well as in stores, as Autonomie Project's organic, sweatshop-free, and vegan products are available in various stores throughout the United States. You can check their website for more details.
