Organic Food Delivery in San Anselmo, California

Having Healthy Organic Food Delivered to Your Door is Easy

There are many options for purchasing organic produce in Marin County, California, but one that is fun and also economical is using an organic delivery service. A couple months ago during the rainy days of winter, I found myself looking for some food inspiration. I seemed to be picking up the same vegetables at the local market; carrots, celery, onions, potatoes and definitely needed something with color and pizazz. I try to shop organic as often as possible and had heard of a new option available in my area - home delivered organic produce.

In my town, San Anselmo, there are a couple services that deliver. I started out by trying Spud! (http://www.spud.com). Spud! started in Vancouver, B.C. and is the creation of David Van Seters. He started out with a couple local deliveries of organic produce, and since the start of Spud! in 1998, it has become the biggest distributor of organic home delivered produce in North America!

The website is easy to navigate and they offer weekly and monthly specials that rival your local supermarket. Half of the produce comes from local farms, and if you order over $32.00, you get free delivery. You can select any items you want from pre-made items, to fruit and vegetables, to fresh bread. Or, you can let Spud! create a Fresh Harvest Box based on your preferences and have it delivered to your door for as low as $35.00! I filled out the information on the site, found my delivery day, and waited for my organic fruit and vegetable box.

On Wednesday, my appointed delivery day, my healthy organic box was left on my doorstep and was fresh and cool when I came home from work. I discovered a true bounty of items ranging from apples to eggplant to zucchini! There were bunches of fresh broccoli, petite yellow potatoes, and ripe mangos. I didn't know where to start! My mind was reeling with recipe ideas and flavorful concoctions. The produce lasted me through the next week. With Spud! you can have a standing order and pick how often you would like a delivery. I continued on with Spud! through the winter and thoroughly enjoyed the amazing fruits and vegetables provided for me every other week for such a low cost.

Along with Spud!, several other organic delivery services have started in my area. Planet Organics (http://www.planetorganics.com) is a San Francisco based organic food delivery service. Their service offers many items and also prepared food and meal kits for around $20.00. This is great for a busy family looking for healthy and easy meal options - and they are delivered right to your door! Planet Organics supports local businesses and has donated over $30,000 to local schools. When you order your items from Planet Organics, not only are you getting great produce and food items, you are helping those in need in the community!

Farm Fresh to You (http://www.farmfreshtoyou.com) is another local organic delivery service that is literally providing you with local farm fresh items delivered directly to you! The farm is located 90 miles northeast of San Francisco and was part of the beginnings of the organic food movement in the late 1990's. It is a family owned and run farm, sharing its amazing produce with the public. You can pick the service you would like ranging from veggies only, or a combination of fruit and vegetables starting at $23.00. You can choose the delivery option that works best for you, and there is no obligation if you decide to discontinue the service. They also offer a free delivery with every friend you refer!

No matter where you live, take the time to look into buying local organic produce whenever possible! This is a great way to support your local farms and keep your community strong. Eating organic is fantastic for your health and by increasing your intake of fruits and vegetables, you will feel and look great! Not finding many options in your local markets for organics? Look into an organic home delivery service! It's an economical, healthy, time saving way to eat organic and support your local farm!
