Organic Food: Home Delivery in Brigham City, Utah

Shopping the Fruit Highway is Not the Only Way to Get Fresh Organic Food

While many places across the United States offer entire organic food stores and home delivery of organic products, it may be surprising to some that even in a rural hamlet like Brigham City, Utah home delivery of organic food is just a phone call or mouse click away.

The appeal of organic food is multidimensional, but consists primarily of the focus on being toxin-free and environmentally friendly.

Great information about what makes any particular food organic, how to shop wisely when it comes to buying organic, health benefits and other helpful information about organic food is available from reputable sources such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Mayo Clinic, and Organic.org.

Early Morning Delivery

Formerly known as Winder Dairy, Winder Farms expanded their services to include products outside of dairy and traditional foods. Included in their menu is an assortment of organic items that may be ordered and delivered directly to your door each week. Additionally, Winder Farms includes a guarantee of delivery by 8:00 a.m. on your day of delivery so there is no need to wait around all day for your order.

Winder Farms frequently offers specials to entice new customers to try out their service, such as an offer to get $30 in free groceries and the delivery cooler for one cent.

While not all of their products are organic, the organics are clearly listed and easy to find in their own menu on the Winder Farms website. Available organic products include coffee, yogurt, eggs, cereal, chicken, yogurt smoothies, apples, carrots, iceberg lettuce, celery hearts, and cauliflower.

The lowest priced items are the single 6 oz yogurts, priced at $1.29 each. The most expensive item is the organic produce box with a price tag of $19.99. The full Winder Farms menu may be viewed on their website.

Farmer's Market on Wheels

Not to be confused with the Whole Foods stores found across the country, Utah Whole Foods is an organic food delivery service for Utah that includes the rural reaches of Utah's northern end in its routes. This means Brigham City has another option for home delivery of organic items.

Promoting themselves as "an Organic and All-Natural farmer's market on wheels", Utah Whole Foods offers a money-back guarantee with their items - having items redelivered as an alternative option.

Organic foods offered by Utah Whole Foods include brown eggs, yogurt and boneless skinless chicken breasts. Other items on their menu make up the "all-natural" portion of their offerings.

Their prices range from $4.59 for a dozen organic brown eggs to $16.49 for 2 pounds of the organic boneless skinless chicken breasts. Though advertised on the front page, there is no clear distinction in their price menu of which yogurts are the organic version.

Not Enough Selection with Home Delivery?

If home delivery does not offer enough of a selection, there are two local options to consider for organic products. The first is shopping at any of the three local grocery stores (Smith's, Kent's and Wal-Mart) for fresh, canned and frozen organic products. Such products are carried in various quantities and selections by each store.

Barely across the city line to the south along main street (Hwy 89) is the beginning of what is known as "The Fruit Highway" that runs through Perry and Willard. One rumored claim to fame of the Fruit Highway is being the source of cherries used in food for Prince Charles and Princess Diana's wedding reception.

From spring through fall, various produce stands and shops open their doors to the public, selling a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Their prices are competitive with local grocery stores, oftentimes beating them. While some are 'local grown' or 'fresh', others are certified organic. This makes Utah's Fruit Highway the other local option for Brighamites to consider when shopping for organic food.
