Organic Foods: How to Buy Healthier and Eat Well

Andrea Parker
One of the greatest moves toward more healthy living is to begin eating organic foods. Organic foods are grown and harvested with minimal to no pesticide and very limited amount of fertilizer. It is beneficial to eat organic foods in order to reduce the amount of toxin an individual is exposed to. Following are some sources of organic foods:

1. www.wholefoodsmarket.com This website has so many choices. Whole Foods lists bakery, beer, cheese, coffee and tea. They also offer flowers, meat and poultry, produce, seafood and wine. This website is worth viewing because it has educational value. Incredible choices of recipes are offered for a variety of occasions. Whole Foods emphasizes plant- based foods that are "real, fresh, natural, organic, local, seasonal and unprocessed."

2. www.traderjoes.com Trader Joes offers foods that are gluten- free. They also have vegan and vegetarian foods. In addition to organic foods, Trader Joes website also offers great recipes.

3. www.localharvest.org According to Local Harvest, the best organic foods are those grown closest to the consumer. Local Harvest is a great source to find Farmer's Markets close to any city. They also have an impressive online store with a huge selection of everything from chocolate to produce and herbs.

4. www.coopdirectory.org This is a great online resource for finding co-ops or groups of individuals that are banding together to obtain more natural food. People can buy food together from a co-op distributor. Interested people can look under co-ops listed by state. There are natural food buying and organic food purchasing groups listed by state.

It is not easy to get started in a new direction when one is used to a certain routine. However, by learning to make food purchasing choices from the organic foods store and farmers markets, families can improve health and well- being. Far fewer food- related toxin will be drawn into the system. People will feel much better with greater energy and enhanced immune systems that are more resistant to disease.
