Organic Gardening Benefits

Organic fertilizer is made up of dead plant material, old food scraps and animal manures. The organic matter helps improve the soil's quality throughout the planting season. More producers are making the choice to go organic because it is more environmentally friendly.

When using organic fertilizer, it can produce food that is free of chemicals and toxins as opposed to other gardens that use fertilizer with chemicals. Organic fertilizer provides the soil with healthy nutrients such as nitrogen, potash and phosphates. Fertilizer created with chemicals tend to break down soil and harm the natural composition and structure.

According to Organic Facts.net, when organic fertilizer is used to grow vegetables and fruits, there is less of a chance that the food will contain toxins that could possibly cause diseases like cancer or skin disorders. Chemical fertilizers are also harmful to the vegetable plants during their growing periods by burning the roots from over fertilizing. Farmers must take special care to handling these types of fertilizers and wear protective gear such as gloves and goggles to keep from harming themselves.

Farmers also benefit from not having to purchase other kinds of fertilizers once they have pursued years of organic farming. After creating their own beneficial organic fertilizer, their soils become rich with nutrients and are able to use their own capital without much investment.

Organic fertilizers are biodegradable which make them safer for the environment. The production of organic fertilizers are produced locally and in rural areas which can create jobs for smaller towns while chemical fertilizers are made in large factories with automated machines. Organic fertilizers are also more available when you have the option of creating it at home by composting or purchasing it at local nurseries and landscape supply centers.

At the landscapeideas.com website, it offers that it is very simple to create your own organic matter at home by simply using waste from the kitchen and garbage. You can also combine items such as garbage, fireplace ash and wet newspaper. After combining these items within your soil, it can be estimated that you can have rich soil with nutrients within about a year.

Using and creating organic soil in your home is an excellent source and act in going green in your home or business to make our planet more environmentally safe. It is also safer for you and your family when you use organic fertilizer to grow food at home and at your local farms.

Excellent article. I always try to garden organically, unfortunately the bugs seem to eat more of my vegetables then we do.
