Organic Gardening sounds hard, but when done right, it can really save you money. If you simply make a compost pile for leaves and cut grass and kitchen scrapes like banana peels and old bread and broccoli stalks, you can really cut back on the waste you produce and even use it to improve your soil. You can even compost old newspapers.

Spread the compost in your garden and even shred the leaves and mulch your garden with them. One family did this for years and now they have rich loamy soil. And they produce lots of vegetables. So much that they had to buy a deep freezer to store the extra berries and vegetables. If you garden so much that you save money on groceries like they do, the savings can really add up.

You can even have organic apples and pears if you have fruit trees. Simply put a brown paper bag over the developing fruit. It is an effective way to keep pests off of your fruit while not using pesticides and the fruit develop fine. Soon you will have large juicy blemish free apples, pears and even peaches.

Another tip is to grow from seed. Simply put your seeds in a plastic bag spread on a wet paper towel in the bag and leave in a warm window to germinate. The seeds will start to grow in a matter of days and as long as you marked what you were growing, you can start them outside in the proper location after a week or so. Tear off the towel and plant the piece in the garden. The plants should survive with the right amount of water.

Sometimes you get garden pests. Lady bugs and praying mantis can help. So can getting a live trap and driving the ground hog far away for release. Some people kill the animals they trap, but that is up to you.

I hope you found some of these tips helpful for saving money with organic gardening. A lot of these tips will save you money and even help protect the environment. I hope you enjoy your garden more now that you have a few tips that will help you grow wonderful fruits and vegetables with less hassle and pests. You don't have to buy lots of pesticides to grow nutritious foods and with food prices soaring, it is good to know how to garden and have fresh fruits and vegetables.
