Organic Golden Flax High Fiber Cereal from Naturally Preferred

My Son Loved This Cereal and I Thought it was Good Too

Time and time again I seem to try out high fiber cereals. I think that a high fiber cereal comes with the territory of a healthy organic one. I really don't mind though, as long as the cereal is nutritious, made with good ingredients and taste good that it all that I am concerned about. That is why when I was looking over some different cereals I was paying attention to the small lettering on the box that read "provides six vitamins." This sounded like a promising cereal to me, despite its title Organic Golden Flax High Fiber Cereal from Naturally Preferred.

This was the second cereal that I had got from the Naturally Preferred company and probably about the eleventh food item of theirs. Prior to this flax cereal I tried the Organic Honey Fiber Multigrain Cereal and before that I tried their Organic Unsweetened Apple Sauce, Organic Blackberry Apple Sauce, Organic Roasted Garlic, Organic Italian Herb and Organic Tomato Basil pasta sauces, their Organic Semolina Spaghetti, Organic Whole Wheat Spaghetti, Organic Carrots and Organic Frozen Broccoli. They were known for inexpensive organic foods and time and time again they were very good organic foods so I saw no reason not to support them. I liked the taste of the last cereal and enjoyed this one's taste as well. Despite being a flax cereal it was very tasty. It was well sweetened so you couldn't taste the heartiness that comes with flax seeds but not so sweet that the cereal became more like candy. I would say it was a very nice balance. I checked the ingredients to see what sweeteners the cereals used and where they fell on the list.

The following organic grains were first listed in the ingredients of the Organic Golden Flax High Fiber Cereal from Naturally Preferred, whole wheat flour, oats, wheat bran flour, brown rice flour, malted barley flour, oat bran, oat flour, amaranth flour, soy flour and corn flour. The first sweetener and next ingredient listed was organic cane juice, then organic golden flax seeds, followed right before the next sweetener, organic unsulfured molasses. The remaining ingredients that followed only contained a couple other sweeteners, as far as I could tell, and they were organic barley malt, natural flavors, concentrated organic grape juice, rice bran, sea salt, baking soda and mixed tocopherol. In addition to listing mixed tocopherol, which is vitamin E and used as a preservative, they listed the following vitamins, niacin, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin, thiamin hydrochloride, folic acid and vitamin B12. Overall I thought that the ingredients looked good.

The nutrition facts also look good for the Organic Golden Flax High Fiber Cereal from Naturally Preferred. In a serving size of three-fourths of a cup there is one hundred and eighty calories with thirty calories from fat. There was only sixty-five milligrams per serving as well as six grams of both fiber and protein, nine grams of sugars and thirty-six grams of carbohydrates. In the minerals and vitamins portion of the nutrition facts four percent was listed for calcium, ten percent for iron, fifteen percent for vitamin B12, folate, niacin and riboflavin, twenty percent for vitamin B6 and thiamin and sixty percent for vitamin C. I thought that these ingredients and the nutrition facts were great and I was happy to be eating such a healthy cereal made with such excellent ingredients.

I will definitely consider getting this cereal again, it is one of the best flax cereals that I have had. Prior to the Organic Golden Flax High Fiber Cereal from Naturally Preferred I have tried Flax Plus Organic Raisin Bran Cereal, Flax Plus Organic Pumpkin Granola, Flax Plus Organic Pumpkin Raisin Crunch Cereal, Optimum Power Breakfast Organic Flax Soy Blueberry Cereal and Flax Plus Organic Pumpkin Raisin Crunch Cereal from Nature's Path as well as Organic Flaxseed Bread from Private Selection, Rudi's Organic Bakery 7 Grain with Flax Bread, LifeStream Organic Whole Grain & Flax Spaghetti and De Boles Organic Whole Wheat Plus Golden Flax Angel Hair. Even if you are not a big fan of the taste of flaxseeds but like their nutrition I would recommend that you give this cereal a try. When it is on sale it cost two dollars and sixty-nine cents for a box that contains nine servings.
