Organic Green Onions from Earthbound Farm

These Green Onions Were Very Fresh, Tasted Wonderful and Were a Good Price, I was Happy that I Got Them

Since I was planning on making a bunch of bean and cheese burritos that I could freeze I was scanning the produce section of the grocery store in search of some onions. I wanted to get an organic yellow onion but all that they had available was an entire bag of organic onions. I knew that I would need an entire bag of onions and wasn't sure if that following week I would be making enough meals that would use all of the onions in the bag before they went bad. I didn't want to get a non-organic yellow onion either. Luckily I noticed that the store had organic green onions. So I happily picked up a bag of Organic Green Onions by Earthbound Farm to use on my bean and cheese burritos. Prior to getting these onions I have also gotten Earthbound Farm Organic Celery, Organic Garlic, Organic Lettuce and Organic Carrots. I was more or less quite pleased with the company and eager to try new things by them.

I found a five and a half ounce bag of the Organic Green Onions by Earthbound Farm but it expired in three days. I knew that I would use up the green onions in that amount of time so I really wasn't worried, I was amazed though at how well the green onions looked. I wouldn't have guessed that they were nearing their end date. The bag costs me only one dollar and forty-four cents. The bag was recyclable and could be resealed with the use of a sticker-like tab that they provided. I thought this was very clever and very handy. Although the bag did not contain the nutrition facts I knew that I would be able to find them on the company's website. In a fourth of a cup of Organic Green Onions by Earthbound Farm there is only ten calories, five milligrams of sodium, two grams of carbohydrates and one gram of both fiber and sugars. The minerals and vitamins section of the nutrition facts listed vitamin A with two percent and vitamin C with eight percent for a fourth-cup of these green onions. I thought that it was interesting to learn about the nutrition fact in organic green onions because I was quite unfamiliar with what they looked like. In addition to finding nutrition facts of their products I knew I could find the recommended method of storage for the onions on the Earthbound Farm company website.

It was recommended to keep the Organic Green Onions by Earthbound Farm refrigerated at just above the freezing temperature in a sealed plastic bag. This would help them remain fresh and would avoid the transfer of off-flavors. It also said to not use any organic green onions that were slimy, discolored, wilted and/or smell bad. After reading this I really hoped that the green onions that I bought were going to be okay. They were indeed alright, every single one of them in the bag look darn near perfect, I couldn't be happier. I washed them well and went away to chopping them up. They had a wonderful flavor and made an excellent addition to the burritos I made as well as some stir-fry I had the next day. I will get them again as they are available all year long. Prior to getting green onions I was usually getting Genesis Organic Farms Onions and Sweet Clover Produce Organic Yellow Onions, but I think that these green onions were a nice change. I would happily recommend for anyone to try these green onions out for their wonderful flavor, nice nutrition and overall organic quality. I am very glad that I found them.
