During the summer, there have been some particularly hot days. It is on these days that I often find myself craving some refreshing iced tea. There is no reason not to make it and constantly have it on hand in the summertime but for some reason I never get around to making it as often as I crave it. I think that this comes from the fact that I have to wonder how good having lots of iced tea is for me. However, I think that it is alright to have it once in a while and on a hot day it is the perfect time to indulge in a cup of iced tea. One of the last times that I went grocery shopping I happen to notice a sale of some ready to drink iced tea. I thought that the concept sounded very convenient and I felt like I absolutely had to try it after noticing that it was both organic and fair trade. I am a huge fan of fair trade goods, for obvious reasons, and I really wish that I knew that all of the foods that I got were fair trade. Off the top of my head though I knew that I had some Green and Black's Organic Cocoa Powder and Wholesome Sweeteners Fair Trade Certified Organic Molasses in my cupboard that were labeled as fair trade and now I could add a thing of Pacific Natural Foods Fair Trade Organic Ready to Drink Sweetened Iced Tea to my kitchen.

I don't normally like to make my own iced tea super sweet. However I like to try everything once and I thought that it might be interesting to see how the sweetened ready to drink iced tea tasted. Unfortunately the Pacific Natural Foods Fair Trade Organic Ready to Drink Sweetened Iced Tea was a little too sweet for my taste. I found that adding some water to it definitely help mellow out how sweet it was though. This in a way made the tea better because one container was going to last a little bit longer. The tea taste was definitely good though and I was very happy about that. Seeing that it was sweetened though I wondered about it ingredients and about the sugars content that it had in the nutrition facts. The ingredient of the ready to drink iced tea were brewed organic black tea made from filtered water and organic fair trade black tea leaves, organic cane sugar was the next ingredient and the ready to drink iced tea also contained ascorbic acid, or vitamin C. I was curious to see how much vitamin C the tea would have. In a cup of the Pacific Natural Foods Fair Trade Organic Ready to Drink Sweetened Iced Tea there was sixty calories, ten milligrams of sodium, sixteen grams of carbohydrates, fifteen grams of sugars and vitamin C was listed with one hundred percent. I thought that it was great that this iced tea had so much vitamin C.

When I saw the Pacific Natural Foods Fair Trade Organic Ready to Drink Sweetened Iced Tea it was on sale for three dollars per container. The container of this tea holds about eight cups, or eight servings. Seeing how I like to use about one-fourth to one-third of water per glass that I had the container lasted me a few days. The ready to drink tea was shelf stable until you open it, at which it needed to be used within seven to ten days and refrigerated. The expiration date was about nine months away from when I bought the tea so I suppose that if you wanted to stock up on this you could easy keep it for a very long time. That isn't something that I would want to do personally but I could see if someone really, really liked it why they would want to. I think that overall homemade fresh iced tea taste better but this is fun too. If you like sweet iced tea I would recommend giving the Pacific Natural Foods Fair Trade Organic Ready to Drink Sweetened Iced Tea a try. I wouldn't suggest stocking up it until you know that you really, really like it. I am glad that I tried it and plan on trying other things from this wonderful fair trade company.
