Organic Kidney Beans Review: WestBrae Natural Vegetarian Organic Kidney Beans

These Kidney Beans Tasted Really Good and I was Glad that I Got Them

It wasn't that long ago that I found myself getting a can of WestBrae Natural Vegetarian Organic Kidney Beans. I had been getting dry organic red beans to add to my beans that I make for burritos, my chili and in my veggie burgers because I couldn't find dry organic kidney beans in the store or because they cost more. For this reason there were many, many times that I thought about getting a can of organic kidney beans. I knew that this would not be as healthy for me, and honestly I was trying to get less and less canned goods and not add another canned food item to the list of ones to get. So I didn't even bother looking for a can of organic kidney beans until recently. This was after trying some Westbrae Natural Vegetarian Organic Black Beans and their Vegetarian Organic Pinto Beans. I was so pleased with their taste and I also tried the company's Organic Whole Wheat Spaghetti that I thought I would keep an eye out for some organic kidney beans. I was lucky to find a can of WestBrae Natural Vegetarian Organic Kidney Beans and happily eager to try it out.

I was fond of the Westbrae company. They were fond of vegetarian foods, and as a vegetarian I really like to support companies who share the same appreciation for a meat free diet. Plus having already tried other food items from them I was confident that I would enjoy what they had to offer. The can of WestBrae Natural Vegetarian Organic Kidney Beans seemed like it could come in handy for many different dishes that I would like to make. This included adding the can to a soup and using it as a protein, adding the can to a cold bean salad and making the salad have a much better flavor and possibly adding it to a plain lettuce salad to provide some protein. I liked the idea of being able to think about wanting to add some organic kidney beans to a dish and only having to open up a can and be done. I was definitely growing accustom to making everything from scratch, and this included making my own frozen bean and cheese burritos, chili, pizza and veggie burgers, I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed at times and my time in the kitchen was becoming less and less because of other things I needed to be doing. I wasn't going to feel guilty about using the can of WestBrae Natural Vegetarian Organic Kidney Beans and decided to use it in a nice cold bean salad.

Even though the WestBrae Natural Vegetarian Organic Kidney Beans were not going to be the only thing in this salad that would be offering protein I was still very curious to see what protein there was going to coming from the beans. In a half of a cup of these beans there was zero calories from fat and only one hundred calories. The sodium content was very low and only at one hundred and forty milligrams for every one half of a cup. I found this to be a little bit surprising since there was added sea salt to the beans but at the same time I wasn't complaining either. I was happy to see that a serving of half of a cup had seven grams of protein as well as two grams of sugars, eighteen grams of carbohydrates and five grams of fiber. In the minerals and vitamins section of the nutrition facts it listed iron with ten percent and both calcium and vitamin C with two percent, again for the serving size of half of a cup. Overall I was very pleased with these nutrition facts that were based off the ingredients of water, organic kidney beans and sea salt. I was very pleased that there was no lard in these organic kidney beans, but I wasn't surprised either considering that they are vegetarian.

The tastes of the WestBrae Natural Vegetarian Organic Kidney Beans were very, very good. My son was particularly fond of them and I was too. They had the perfect amount salt to make them taste great and they were cooked just well enough that they were nice and tender but they didn't completely mash under very little pressure. They made an excellent ingredient in the cold bean salad and I was very, very happy that I had decided to get them because red beans would just not have been the same. The can that I got contained three servings and it only cost me one dollar and sixty-nine cents. I didn't think that this was a bad price at all for a cup and a half of organic kidney beans and that wasn't even on sale. I think that it would be nice to keep a can or two of the WestBrae Natural Vegetarian Organic Kidney Beans on hand. If they were to go on sale I think that I would be tempted to get a few of them to keep in my cupboard. I can't tell you how many times I've wished that I had some kidney beans on hand. Having some organic cooked kidney beans on hand would be even better, and something that I could do if I was keep some cans of these beans on hand.

Eventually when it comes time to use organic kidney beans I would hope that I am buying them dry and cooking them myself. For this reason I doubt that I will be getting WestBrae Natural Vegetarian Organic Kidney Beans for forever. I will be sure to get them again though, that I know for sure. If you like to eat organic foods and find that having a can or two of cooked kidney beans on hand comes in handy I would highly recommend that you try some of the WestBrae Natural Vegetarian Organic Kidney Beans. They are a fair enough price that even if you decided that you didn't care for them you would be out but a couple of buck. As long as you like kidney beans I can't imagine that you would not care for these kidney beans though.
