Organic Lotus Spa in Houston, TX is a cute salon that focuses on clients as individuals. Located in the Montrose neighborhood, Organic Lotus Spa is the perfect location for getting a manicure and pedicure before or after grabbing a bite to eat. I went to the salon to get a manicure and pedicure using the Groupon coupon I had purchased so I got a great deal, but I would return and pay full price because Annie, the owner, really knows her stuff.

The Owner
Although Annie Ta, the owner and founder of Organic Lotus Spa in Houston, TX, has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, she also worked part-time as a manicurist so with her new salon, she is able to blend her love of numbers with her passion for pampering clients.

So what makes Organic Lotus Spa in Houston, TX so different? Annie makes all of the organic spa products herself (e.g. the salt scrubs used during a pedicure), and she allows clients to choose from a plethora of different options. Some pedicure choices include: chocolate mint, cool mint, wine and roses, mango, mambo lavender, and the reflexology a pedicure. Each one offers something unique.

My Pedicure
I opted for a mint pedicure and I can honestly say I left with my feet feeling refreshed and vibrant. I was fortunate to have Annie work on me because she understands all different skin types and even cuticle types. She recognized that I have thin, sensitive cuticles and knew not to cut them. Instead she uses a magical cuticle remover that did wonders. She took her time and was very gentle - so gentle in fact that I didn't even realize she had cut my toenails. They clippers did not even make a sound. And Annie made sure she did not clip my toenails too short either.

My favorite part was the foot and calf massage but I truly appreciated how Annie used the right tools for my feet. I didn't have a lot of calluses so she was gentle while exfoliating. And they use a new exfoliating strip on the foot tool for each client.

Sterilized Tools
One of the most important things when getting a manicure or pedicure is the client's safety so at Organic Lotus Spa in Houston, TX, they ensure all of their metal instruments (e.g. nail clippers) are sterilized after each use in the Autoclave which heats the tools to a minimum of 121 degrees Celsius.

Tools like wax applicators, nail files and buffers are only used once and are given to the clients to take with them. That way, germs are not spread from client to client, however you can use the nail file on yourself over and over again. After each pedicure, the sinks are cleaned with soap and hospital grade, FDA-approved disinfectant.
