Organic Makeup Review: Ecco Bella's FlowerColor Bronzing Powder

TommiH
I've decided to add a little twist to my makeup collection and start purchasing organic makeup. Many people have questions about organic makeup. What is the difference between organic makeup, non-organic makeup, and mineral makeup?

The difference?:
I'm going to break down each makeup type for you. In order to know what is best for your skin is starts by learning what you are applying to your skin.

Organic Makeup - Organic makeup is made from natural substances (vitamins, plant extracts, etc.). You will not find chemicals, synthetics, talc, or any other substance along the lines in a true organic makeup. In addition and special noting, organic makeups are not tested on animals.

Mineral Makuep - Mineral makeup comes from finely micronized minerals. Pigmentation generally comes from inorganic pigments. True mineral makeups will not be chemically preserved.

Non-Organic Makeup - Non-Organic makeup is the "traditional" makeup. Traditional makeups will carry preservatives, silicones, alcohol, talc, and many more substances that are natural to the human skin and are not good for you.

During this review, we are going to take a look at Ecco Bella's FlowerColor Bronzing Powder.

The look: (4.5 stars out of 5)

In this section we are going to talk about the actual appearance of this bronzer, the size, and if anything's included with the product.

FlowerColor Bronzer comes in a flip open/shut casing. The outside features a black with small white dots covering the entire products case. The inside features a personal mirror and circular palette where the bronzer sits.

The actual amount of product is rather small for the price, but a little does go a long way.

An applicator is not included. I would recommend using a larger powder brush when applying any sort of bronzer because it will give you a light, even dusting.

Coloring: (4 stars out of 5)

Ecco Bella currently has two colors available in this bronzer: Hibiscus and Sunflower. Hibiscus is a lighter tone of bronzer made for fair to medium skin tones. If you have fair skin, I would recommend taking it easy on this bronzer because it may give you an unnatural look. The next color is Sunflower. Sunflower is a darker tone of bronzer and make for medium to darker toned individuals.

Both colors are very natural looking if applied correctly. Neither have a shimmer to them (they are a matte tone). It is very difficult to find a matte tone bronzer because 98% of today's bronzers have an overdose of shimmer and it sends off a very unnatural look.

Texture: (5 stars out of 5)

FlowerColor Bronzer is very soft and smooth to the touch. In general, I do not like pressed powders because they tend to go on thick and appear "cakey". I have not had a problem with caking, creasing, or smudging. Some people have told me they get a heavy look after applying this makeup but then I come to find out they have applied a concealer, foundation, and then the bronzer.

If you are going to use this bronzer, you need make sure you are applying a light amount of makeup or it will come out feeling and looking heavy.

Application life: (4 stars out of 5)

I was okay with the application life. It was not the best but it was okay. I got approx. 5 hours of full color from this bronzer. There isn't much you can do to help this bronzer last. If you want to use a primer to help your bronzed look last longer, feel free.

The nice thing about bronzer, though, is you can easily reapply some to your look. Some bronzers will give you a fake and caked look if you keep applying throughout the day, but this bronzer did not give that affect.

All-in-all, it is a nice bronzer. I do like the color when it is applied properly. I would recommend this bronzer. This product received an overall rating of 4.4 stars out of 5.
