Organic Onion Review: Walla Walla River Organic Yellow Onion

These Onions Tasted Great

I have to admit that I am not the greatest cook. While I feel good about most of the food choices that I make for me and my son, when it comes to preparing foods and seasoning them well it is pretty hit and miss for me. This often results in some really great dishes and some really bland ones. One way that I am making my normally bland dishes better is by using onions. I have been careful about what vegetables I have been getting organically because of my grocery budget, but when it comes to onions I still find that I am able to get a bag of them for a very reasonable price. Just the other day I found a bag of Walla Walla River Organic Yellow Onions for around three dollars. Here is what I thought about these onions.

I don't normally stray too often from brands that I really enjoy. For a long time I was getting either Sweet Clover Produce Organic Yellow Onions or Genesis Organic Farms Onions, depending on which ones I was able to find at the time I was going grocery shopping. Although I recently started shopping at another grocery store and as a result had to get what I could find. This first included Organic Green Onions from Earthbound Farm and now the Walla Walla River Organic Yellow Onions. I wasn't disappointed that I would have to get another brand as these onions looked like they were in pretty nice condition.

From what I could see in the bag all of the Walla Walla River Organic Yellow Onions looked really nice. They ranged in a couple different sizes which I thought would come in handy. There are some dishes that require only half of an onion and some that require two, so I thought that having some big, medium and small onions might be nice. As I mentioned I often use onions as a way of turning what would likely turn out pretty bland into something that had some nice flavor. This includes the homemade veggie burgers that I make, the homemade bean and cheese burritos that I make and many other dishes, like salads, stir-fries, pasta sauces and pizzas. I didn't think it would take long to go through the whole bag.

The bag weighed three pounds and if I had to estimate I would say that it contained around a dozen Walla Walla River Organic Yellow Onions. I examined the label on the top of the dark mesh bag that the onions came in and discovered that they were a product from the U.S. I wasn't surprised with their name and all and I confirmed that they were actually from a farm in Walla Walla in Washington state. I was very pleased about this because I don't live but three hours away from there. This means that these onions only have to travel three hours, meaning that they are going to be very, very fresh when they reach my grocery store.

I don't know if the location where the organic onions were grown made them taste as good as the did but the Walla Walla River Organic Yellow Onions tasted very, very good. Raw and cooked they offered a lot of wonderful flavor to the dishes that I used them in. I wondered if I could find out more about these wonderful onions on the internet. While I found a site for the Walla Walla River company their site didn't have any information about their organic onions, but I wasn't going to hold that against the onions. I think that I will definitely get these organic onions again. I would recommend for anyone to give the Walla Walla River Organic Yellow Onions a try.
