Organic Perfumes

If you are concerned about the environment, or just worried about your own personal health, you should be happy with the current trend towards more natural products. In addition to eating organic foods, you can now buy organic body products, organic cosmetics, and organic clothing. Now, you can also find organic perfumes. This is great news for naturalists, since perfumes have moved away from being made with natural oils and plants, and have increasingly been created with synthetic ingredients over the past few decades. Perfumes reflect scents of nature, and should therefore be made with plants, not chemicals that smell like plants. Let's take a look at some of the organic perfume brands and manufacturers in the marketplace.

Organic Perfume Scents

One thing to keep in mind is that natural perfumes smell like things found in nature - flowers, woods, herbs, and spices. Organic perfumes should reflect this. Organic perfumes should not smell like the ocean, rain, foods, and so on. Another thing to keep in mind is that organic perfumes and fragrances will not use the same chemical binding agents as synthetic perfumes. That means that they may not last as long on your skin. You may want to purchase a small size to try it out, and have it to carry with you if you want to freshen up your scent.

Organic Perfume Retailers

Many online retailers have recently added organic perfumes to their collections. These include large retailers, such as Sephora, as well as smaller boutiques. L'Occitane has always been a great source of organic perfumes. Aveda has some nice scents as well. One website that I have mentioned in other articles is Saffron Rouge, which sells organic beauty products from a variety of sources. The sell perfumes under their tab for aromatherapy. These include roll on perfumes, which are fun. They are in a tube with a roller, like the old lip glosses of the seventies. These are great to carry in your purse and use throughout the day.

Many organic perfumes focus on a single note, such as sandalwood, lavender, or rose. That does not have to be the case though. The company Florascent creates perfume blends with floral or oriental tones to them. L'Occitane has a line with varieties of bergamot and citrus that are nice. I also like their Jasmine perfume, which is sensual but light at the same time. L'Occitane has many travel sizes at their Web site, which can help you try things out and find your preferences.

As with all cosmetics, don't be shy. Go to cosmetics counters and ask if they have any organic perfumes that you can try on. That way you can find the best organic perfume for you, and know that you will like it. You really need to try a perfume all day to know how the scent will change, and how long it will last. Don't feel obligated to buy perfumes until you do this. I try on a perfume every time I go to the mall. That way I know what I want, and I know that I will be happy spending the money on it.

There are many organic perfumes on the marketplace these days. If you are interested in adding more natural products to your routine, or just want to smell like nature itself, give them a try.
