Organic Raisins Review: Earthbound Farm Organic Thompson Seedless Raisins

These Raisins Were Very Good and I Am Glad that I Tried Them Out

I have not been buying raisins for a very long time. Once I saw that grapes were one of the worst fruits to get non-organic I didn't want to get raisins unless I could get them organic. After making a recent batch of granola I got to thinking about how I do enjoy their taste in a bowl of cereal or bowl of oatmeal and decided to keep my eye out for organic raisins. Eventually I did find some organic raisins and decided to get a bag. The particular bag that I got was Earthbound Farm Organic Thompson Seedless Raisins.

I was quite familiar with the Earthbound Farm company. They have a huge selection of organic foods and produce and I have already tried out some of the foods before. The list of Earthbound Farm organic foods that I have tried includes their Organic Celery, Organic Garlic, Organic Lettuce and Organic Carrots. I was quite pleased with their other products and overall thought that they were a really good company. I was happy to be getting the organic raisins from them. The bag that I got was resealable, plastic on the inside and paper on the outside. I scanned it for a recyclable symbol but saw no such thing. It contained one cup worth of organic seedless raisins and cost me two dollars and thirty cents, overall this is what I thought about these raisins.

I didn't think that this was a bad price. The bag of Earthbound Farm Organic Thompson Seedless Raisins contained the amount of raisins that I add to a seven cups batch of granola. Whether or not it was a great price it questionable, since it was the only option of raisins that I saw there. I thought that the organic raisins tasted very good. Equal to or better than non-organic raisins that I have tasted. One thing that I am always saying that I like about the this company is that they disclose their foods' nutrition facts on their website and sometimes on the packaging of the foods. In the case of the organic raisins the nutrition facts were right on the back of the bag.

The nutrition facts of the Earthbound Farm Organic Thompson Seedless Raisins were based on the ingredients organic raisins and less than one percent of organic sunflower oil. I would guess that the sunflower oil was used as a preservative. The bag contained four one-fourth cup servings and in each serving of organic raisins there was one hundred and twenty calories with no calories from fat. There one gram of protein, two grams of fiber, thirty-two grams of carbohydrates and a whopping thirty grams of sugars in every serving. Now I could see why raisins were called nature's candy. I knew that raisins were high in sugar but I didn't realize they were that high in sugar. In addition the nutrition facts listed both vitamin C and calcium with two percent and iron with six percent.

After thinking about it I started to recall thinking that there were better ways to get fruit in cereal and oatmeal with out the use of raisin, that was a lot less sugary too. I don't regret getting the raisins but I will be sure to brush my teeth after eating them and will not likely get them too often. This is nothing against the Earthbound Farm Organic Thompson Seedless Raisins just raisins in general. If you don't mind the sugar content that comes with raisins I would recommend that you try these raisins out. As I said I am still glad that I did as they are really good.
