Organic Raspberry Yogurt Review: Stonyfield Farm YoKids Organic Raspberry Yogurt

My Son was Not Too Fond of the Raspberry Taste but I Loved It

I have decided to get yogurt more often. I figure that it has some really good nutrition to offer and if I am choosy about the type of yogurt and brand that I get, I can find some really good stuff. I have a small allergy to milk that makes it uncomfortable to drink milk or eat a lot of ice cream but I don't usually see a lot of these uncomfortable allergy symptoms happen when I eat yogurt. Plus my son recently started eating more and more dairy, he is only two-years-old, and I thought that we could find some yogurt that we both could enjoy. The first yogurt that I got was Nancy's Organic Whole Milk Plain Yogurt. Although I thought that this yogurt tasted good, it wasn't something that my son was enjoying. So the next time that I looked for some yogurt, I looked for some that was geared towards kids, and what I found was Stonyfield Farm YoKids Organic Raspberry Yogurt.

I didn't know what my son would think of raspberry yogurt. I don't think he has had the opportunity to try any raspberries before but I hoped that he would enjoy the yogurt. The Stonyfield Farm YoKids Organic Raspberry Yogurt came in a package of six four-ounce containers. Half of the containers were another flavor so I thought that in the event that he didn't care for the yogurt I could eat those and he would at least have the other flavor, which I knew he enjoyed. Some times a mom can just see the future because as it turned out my son was less into eating the raspberry yogurt. I didn't see this as a negative thing though, as the organic yogurt did offer a nice raspberry taste. I am not surprised that my son would not care for this somewhat tart berry but I was happy to eat the yogurt so it all worked out well.

The four-ounce container of Stonyfield Farm YoKids Organic Raspberry Yogurt was a nice little snack that I ate along side my breakfast. It gave me eighty calories but only ten calories from fat. There was five grams of protein, which I thought was excellent and but I was surprised that the sugars and carbohydrates were the same amount, thirteen grams. I wondered how much sugar was added to the organic raspberry yogurt. There was also five milligrams of cholesterol, seventy milligrams of sodium and two hundred and forty milligrams of potassium in the little container of yogurt. The minerals and vitamins section of the yogurt listed calcium with twenty percent and vitamin D with twenty-five percent. Overall I was happy about the nutrition facts but I was still curious about the ingredients.

The ingredients of the Stonyfield Farm YoKids Organic Raspberry Yogurt are cultured pasteurized organic low fat milk, naturally milled organic sugar, organic raspberry puree, natural flavor, organic carrot and organic black currant juice concentrates, pectin and vitamin D. The yogurt contained live active cultures that included L. acidophils, bifidus, L. casei and L. rhamosus. I love how Stonyfield Farm uses healthy alternatives to food coloring to add color to their yogurt. The organic carrot and organic black currant juice concentrates were used to add a little color to the raspberry yogurt, although you couldn't taste either flavors. I was pleased with the taste, ingredients and nutrition of this raspberry yogurt and I am glad that I got it. The six pack of the organic yogurt only cost two dollars and sixty-two cents. I would recommend for anyone to try it out.
