Organic Short Grain Brown Rice by Lundberg Family Farms Review

This Short Grain Rice was Very Good

I don't normally get short grain rice but I did the other day thinking that it might be a nice change and that it might cook faster. My logic was only half right. On one hand having the short grain rice probably would be a nice change but as far as how long it would take to cook it actually was the exact amount of time as the long grain rice. I decided to focus on the change and happily picked up a bag of Organic Short Grain Brown Rice by Lundberg Family Farms. Here is what I thought of this rice.

I was actually quite familiar with the Lundberg Family Farms brand because I had gotten a number of their rices before and had tried one while visiting my mom. I have previously got their Eco-Farmed California Brown Basmati Rice and Organic Long Grain Brown Rice before and tried some of their Eco-Farmed Gluten Free Short Grain Brown Rice while at my mom's. I really thought that they were a good company and I was enjoying their rices and so I was confident that I would enjoy the Organic Short Grain Brown Rice by Lundberg Family Farms that I had just gotten. After cooking it for the first time I made a point to pay attention to what I thought about it.

Even though it was short grain the overall taste was very much like a brown rice that is long grain. I thought that it tasted very good and I was not disappointed in the least. It may have not been a huge change from long grain but I was glad that there wasn't anything about it that bugged me. It took about an hour to cook, give or take five minutes but I was use to that cooking time. The bag that I got contained about four and a half cups of dry Organic Short Grain Brown Rice by Lundberg Family Farms. Once cooked the rice just about triples in size so the bag should last me at least a couple weeks. I keep it in the fridge to contain freshness but I am sure it wouldn't go bad in that amount of time. Before storing the bag in the fridge I took another glance at it to review the nutrition facts.

I am becoming more and more interested in looking over nutrition facts. I just find it so interesting to see what foods are giving the best nutrition and everything. From what I could initially tell the Organic Short Grain Brown Rice by Lundberg Family Farms was not very different from long grain rice that is organically grown. In a fourth of a cup of this short grain rice there is one hundred and eighty calories with fifteen calories from fat. Also in that amount of rice there is forty grams of carbohydrates, three grams of both fiber and protein and one gram of sugars. Iron is listed with two percent for one fourth of a cup of rice in the minerals and vitamins section of the nutrition facts. I definitely thought that the nutrition facts looked good.

I really didn't have any complaints about the Organic Short Grain Brown Rice by Lundberg Family Farms. I imagine that I will get it again from time to time. If I remember correctly the price of the both the organic long grain and organic short grain of this brand are the same price, around four dollars, so I suppose that if they are out of long grain or I just feel like getting short grain I will get this rice again. I would recommend for anyone to give this rice a try.
