Organic Snickerdoodle Cookies: Why I'll be Buying Them Again

Chey Conner
I do not usually get my son cookies unless there is a great sale on some that are organic. We happened to walk past a very small bag of cookies that was a little over a dollar, and it was from a brand that we have tried before. These cookies were Snackimals Snickerdoodle Cookies, made with organic grains by Barbara's Bakery. Neither my son nor I had ever tried them, and so we decided to get the small bag. Here is what we thought of the cookies.

My son who is only two does not normally turn away a cookie but I could tell that he knew what the bag contained the moment he saw it. Full of joy he anxiously waited while I opened it. Inside the bag of Snackimals Snickerdoodle Cookies Made with Organic Grains by Barbara's Bakery were cookies that were shaped like little animals and what appeared to be train cars in a circus. I gave my son five cookies, took one for myself and folded the bag and stuck it up in the cupboard. My son clearly was enjoying these cookies and I tasted the one that I got and could tell why. Although they are a healthy cookie they did not have a hearty taste. Also something that I thought was really nice was the fact that they were not overly sweet. Later that evening when my son was preoccupied playing with his toys I got the bag out again and looked over the ingredients and nutrition facts.

The ingredient list for the Snackimals Snickerdoodle Cookies Made with Organic Grains by Barbara's Bakery was pretty short and contained some very nice ingredients. The cookies are made of organic wheat flour, organic dehydrated cane juice, organic expeller pressed sunflower or safflower oil, cinnamon, sea salt, soy lecithin, natural vanilla flavor with other natural flavors, baking soda and aluminum free baking powder. I was very pleased when I was reading this, it nearly looked like a list of ingredients I would find in a recipe book with the exception of the soy lecithin. I was surprised that sugar was the second ingredient because as I said before the cookies were not overwhelmingly sweet. I wondered how this amount of sugar would affect the nutrition facts as well as the other ingredients.

The nutrition facts of the Snackimals Snickerdoodle Cookies Made with Organic Grains by Barbara's Bakery looked pretty good. In ten cookies there was one hundred and twenty calories with thirty-five calories from fat. There was sixty-five milligrams of sodium, nineteen grams of carbohydrates, two grams of protein and only five grams of sugars in ten cookies as well. In addition the nutrition facts listed in the minerals and vitamins section that there was four percent for iron in ten cookies. Overall I thought that the cookies' ingredients and nutrition facts looked pretty good, the bag was said to contain about twenty cookies so I figure that it would last my son three or four days. I didn't think that the price of the cookies were great but I was still glad that we got them.

Again, we do not have cookies on hand often, not unless someone gives my son some, which is usually why we do have them on hand. However, if I was going to get my son some cookies, I would definitely keep these in mind. I would recommend for anyone to try out the Snackimals Snickerdoodle Cookies, made with organic grains by Barbara's Bakery if they like snickerdoodle cookies and if not you have the option of the company's other cookies, we have also tried their Organic Vanilla Animal Cookies and Organic Wheat Free Oatmeal Animal Cookies as well.

I'd prefer a treat that wasn't overly sweet. These sound great - especially since ten cookies only have 120 calories. Thanks!
