Organic Spaghetti-O's Review: Organic Bernie O's from Annie's
These Spaghetti-O's Tasted Good and Were Inexpensive
The can held about two cups of pasta and sauce. This would be at least two lunches for my son who is only two years old. On the first day that my son had these spaghetti-o's I cooked the entire can in a medium saucepan heating it at medium heat. I was following the directions on the can of the Organic Bernie O's from Annie's. It didn't take but a couple minutes to get warm. I didn't worry about making it super hot as I was about to serve it to a toddler. I wasn't sure if my son would be like me and too not care for spaghetti-o's or be like so many people I know that really enjoy it. Normally my son isn't too picky about the foods that he eats and tries. When he is picky about what he is eating it is something that I have made because of its health benefits and not for its tastes.
My son took the first taste of the Organic Bernie-O's from Annie's and to my surprise did not get a second one. Instead of continuing to eat his lunch he got up from his chair and started to play with his toys. I wondered if the temperature, which was lukewarm at best, was slightly surprising to him, if he just didn't care for the taste or if he simply was having so much fun playing right before lunch time that he didn't want to stop, which isn't unusual unless I am serving something that he absolutely loves. I removed the bowl that I set down on the table for him, thinking that he didn't care for the taste, and he insisted that he wasn't done by not playing any longer and returning to his seat. So I left it be and after a moment he had a second bite, and then directly after that a third one. Pretty soon he was eating these spaghetti-o's with much enthusiasm. I was very glad that I decided to get this Annie's product.
Prior to having these spaghetti-o's we have tried Annie's Cinna Bunnies and Honey Bunnies Cereal, Annie's Honey Bunny Grahams and their Creamy Deluxe Shells & Real Aged Cheddar and Creamy Deluxe Whole Wheat Shells & Extra Cheesy Cheddar Sauce. Like the Organic Bernie O's from Annie's their cereals, crackers and macaroni and cheeses were things that I had gotten for my son. The next day after trying the spaghetti-o's I reheated them for my son's lunch. To me they still tasted just as good and my son liked them just as much. I thought that the taste was very similar to any other spaghetti-o's, if not a little bit better, so I think that anyone that likes spaghetti-o's would like these.
I didn't have the slightest clue as to what kind of nutrition the Organic Bernie O's from Annie's would have. I remember looking at the ingredients in the grocery store to make sure that these spaghetti-o's were vegetarian but I didn't look over the nutrition facts until later. In one cup of pasta and sauce, about half of the can there was one hundred and fifty calories but only five calories from fat. There was six hundred and eighty milligrams of sodium, but I wasn't surprised because tomatoes are naturally high in sodium, I imaged that there was some salt added too though. Half of the can of Organic Bernie O's from Annie's also contained thirty-one grams of carbohydrates, less than one gram of fiber, eleven grams of sugars and four grams of protein. Lastly in the minerals and vitamins section of the nutrition facts vitamins A and C and calcium were all listed with four percent and iron was listed with six percent.
Overall I didn't have any complaints about the nutrition facts. I thought for a simple, quick and canned lunch they really were not all that bad, in general though they were not great. The ingredients on the other hand very pretty good. Organic Bernie O's from Annie's are made of water, organic tomato puree made from water and organic tomato paste, organic pasta made from organic semolina wheat and water, organic evaporated cane juice, sea salt, organic corn starch, organic cheddar cheese made from organic cultured milk, enzymes and salt, citric acid, organic onion powder, organic paprika and organic garlic powder. I loved that with exception of water, sea salt, citric acid and the enzymes used in the organic cheese everything was labeled organic. I couldn't have been happier about the ingredients.
I don't think that we will be getting cans of Organic Bernie O's from Annie's too often but I think that it will be something that we will get again. Since my son liked it and it was only one dollar and forty-six cents for a can I think we can afford to get it for fun from time to time. I would recommend to anyone who likes spaghetti-o's to try this out. I am sure that the ingredients in your average can of spaghetti-o's are not as good and you will get the same yummy taste with the Organic Bernie O's from Annie's. I would also recommend that you try out other fine products from this company, as they really have a lot of good foods to offer. I am glad that we decided to get this can and like I said I am sure that we will get it again.
