Unlike many of the food items that I buy I didn't have to worry about reading the ingredients of the Organic Spicy Vegetarian Chunky Chili from Health Valley because it said it was vegetarian right on the front of the can. This made it very easy to select the can and get on with my shopping. There was no reason to read the ingredients while in the store. I finished up my shopping and returned home looking forward to looking more at the can of Organic Spicy Vegetarian Chunky Chili from Health Valley. According to the nutrition facts there were two serving in the can of spicy vegetarian chili and each of those servings was one cup worth of chili. In each serving of chili there was one hundred and fifty calories with ten calories from fat. There was also thirty-one grams of carbohydrates, ten grams of fiber, nine grams of protein, five grams of sugars and seventy-five milligrams of sodium in every serving. In the mineral and vitamins section of nutrition facts for the spicy vegetarian chili there was ten percent listed for calcium, three times that much listed for vitamin C and half of that list for both vitamin A and iron. I thought that the nutrition facts looked really good. Next I studied the vegetarian ingredients of the organic chili.
The ingredients of the Organic Spicy Vegetarian Chunky Chili from Health Valley were filtered water, organic tomatoes, organic pinto beans, organic tomato paste, organic onions, organic carrots, organic soy protein, organic corn starch, organic evaporated cane juice, chipotle peppers, organic spices, organic onion powder, organic garlic powder and natural chili flavor. With the calcium amount I was surprised to find that there wasn't any cheese listed in the ingredients. All of the ingredients looked very, very nice. I was intrigued that there were more organic tomatoes used than organic pinto beans, this kind of got me thinking that I should start adding more tomatoes to my own homemade chili. In addition I thought that it was interesting that there were carrots in the chili, I would not have thought to add them to chili but I am sure that they probably were contributing to the nutrition in the organic spicy vegetarian chili. With all of this information in mind I decided to go a head and try out the Organic Spicy Vegetarian Chunky Chili from Health Valley.
I thought the Organic Spicy Vegetarian Chunky Chili from Health Valley was plenty spicy. In fact if you are not into spicy foods this chili is probably too spicy for you. I use to be more into spicy foods and this was a little spicy for my taste buds now, I may have been more into the taste when I was really into spicy foods but I was glad that I had bought an organic vegetarian chili that was only labeled mild because I had a feeling that I was going to enjoy that more. I thought that the flavor was very nice for the canned chili. Canned goods have a lot to live up to when compared to the fresh alternative and never live up to a homemade batch. So while I thought that I have had better homemade chili I thought that the Organic Spicy Vegetarian Chunky Chili from Health Valley was still pretty good for being canned chili. If you are worried about tasting carrots I didn't even notice them. I would recommend for anyone that likes spicy chili and is either looking for an organic or vegetarian chili, or even both an organic and vegetarian chili to give this one a try. It was only about one dollar and sixty-six cent for a can when on sale so I was glad that I tried only one can because like I said it is a bit too spicy for me.
