Organic Tomato Bisque Review: Amy's Organic Soups Chunky Tomato Bisque

This Soup was Positively Excellent and I was Glad that I Tried It

I don't make a whole lot of homemade soups. I usually reserve the idea of making soups for when my son or I am sick with a cold or if the weather is chilly and I happen to have a lot of good vegetables that I need to eat. Recently, I have been eating a couple bowls of soup for my lunch, however these soups have not been homemade, they have been canned. Even though I have been eating a lot of canned soups, I am trying to get only organic soups and that is why I decided to try some Amy's Organic Soups in Chunky Tomato Bisque flavor.

To be honest I didn't have the first clue about making a bisque, until I looked into it I really wasn't sure what the definition of a bisque was. Apparently in the case of a tomato bisque it is referring to a soup that is made from tomato puree and tomatoes with the use of cream. I looked over the ingredient of the Amy's Organic Soups Chunky Tomato Bisque and saw that they fit the description. The ingredients were organic tomato puree, organic diced tomatoes, organic cream, organic evaporated cane juice, organic onions, sea salt and spices. I thought that this sounded really good and was looking forward to eating it.

As I looked over the can of Amy's Organic Soups Chunky Tomato Bisque I saw that in the directions they said "please do not overcook", I thought it was cute. I understand that overcooking a canned soup can really turn vegetables in to mush and really leave the outcome of the flavor pretty weak. Overcooking soups is uncommon for me because I don't like to heat them up too hot. I only heated this soup on medium heat and only had it on the burner for less than ten minutes. I made some grilled cheese sandwiches to go along with the tomato bisque, thinking that this way I would get full and that I would have something that I liked if I didn't care for the bisque. I like tomato soup so I had hope that I would enjoy it.

I have to give the Amy's Organic Soups Chunky Tomato Bisque credit because I thought that it was delicious. I don't know if it was the cream or the specific spices that were used but it was better than any tomato soup that I have had. I would have enjoyed it even without the grilled cheese sandwiches that I had made. It had a nice thickness, the diced tomatoes in it were not overcooked and the overall flavor was excellent. I was so glad that I had got it. When I found the can it wasn't on sale and was two dollars and thirty-four cents, although more than what I like to spend on soup I was still glad that I tried it. Now if I see it on sale I think I will get some more cans. While I ate the tomato bisque I looked over the nutrition facts.

The can of Amy's Organic Soups Chunky Tomato Bisque contained about two cups of bisque. In a cup of the bisque, or half of the can, there was one hundred and twenty calories with thirty calories from fat. There was ten milligrams of cholesterol and six hundred and eighty milligrams of sodium in this amount, seeing that there was added sea salt and the fact that tomatoes are high in sodium I wasn't surprised by this fact. There was also twenty-one grams of carbohydrates, fourteen grams of sugars and two grams of both protein and fiber. In the minerals and vitamins section there was twenty percent listed for vitamin A, twice that for vitamin C, eight percent listed for calcium and six percent listed for iron. The nutrition facts looked nice. I would recommend the Amy's Organic Soups Chunky Tomato Bisque to anyone.

I hated it. This is the second Amy's Organic soup that I have tried. They both had a weird after taste. The bisque felt and tasted like I was eating spoons of bottled spaghetti sauce instead of soup.

I love this soup so much that I am eating a bowl right now with my grilled cheese and searching for a recipe that tastes just as good. Although with the simple ingredients it requires it shouldn't be that hard to do.
