Organic Tomato Soup by Health Valley Review

Salt Free and a Little Bit Bland as a Result

After getting lots and lots of different canned soups for my lunches I decided to get a can of organic tomato soup. I usually only make tomato soup if am making grilled cheese sandwiches, and I didn't have any cheese on hand when I bought the tomato soup so it got tucked away in my cupboard. Eventually I came across it when my canned goods began to dwindle and I was in luck because I had everything I needed to make grilled cheese sandwiches. Along with the sandwiches I made a can of Health Valley Organic Tomato Soup.

I didn't have to go to any trouble making the Health Valley Organic Tomato Soup. I just poured the can of soup into a saucepan and heated it up for about five to seven minutes. I didn't want to overcook it because I knew that would make it too hot to enjoy at first and would likely thin it out. The organic tomato soup had a nice thickness, however I thought that the taste was a little bit on the bland side. It didn't have any salt added to it so I wasn't surprised that this was the case. I was disappointed though because previously I had tried a number of Health Valley soups without salt added and I thought they tasted good.

Prior to the Health Valley Organic Tomato Soup I tried a number of their other soups. This included their Lentil, Minestrone, Split Pea, Vegetable, Potato Leek and both their Spicy Vegetarian Chili and Mild Vegetarian Chili. Overall I enjoyed the company for their ingredients and nutrition facts found in their products. This tomato soup contained one hundred calories with twenty-five calories from fat. I was surprised to see that the soup contained five milligrams of cholesterol, but I was glad that it had only sixty milligrams of sodium because it didn't contain any salt. Also, there was nineteen grams of carbohydrates, two grams of fiber, fourteen grams of sugars and two grams of protein. In the minerals and vitamins section the tomato soup listed ten percent for vitamin A, thirty percent for vitamin C, six percent for calcium and two percent for iron. Since I looked at the nutrition facts I looked at the ingredients.

The ingredients of the Health Valley Organic Tomato Soup are filtered water, organic tomato puree, organic tomatoes, organic tomato paste, organic evaporated cane juice, organic unsalted butter made from organic cream, organic brown rice flour, organic onion powder, citric acid, organic garlic powder and organic black pepper. Seeing that there was butter in the tomato soup I could see why there was some cholesterol in the nutrition facts. However I really could not complain considering that the butter was organic, along with so many of the other ingredients. Overall I thought that the ingredients and nutrition facts of the organic tomato soup looked good, but the taste I was less into.

I don't plan on getting the Health Valley Organic Tomato Soup again. I think that if I see their organic tomato soup that had salt added to it I'll try it. With some salt added to the soup it is really a lot better. I would recommend this organic tomato soup to anyone who was use to the taste of salt free soups. If you are not that familiar with salt free foods I would only get one can of this soup to make sure that you will enjoy it, before buying a lot of them. The can was on sale for three cans for five dollars when I got it. Although it turned out that I didn't love this soup I was still glad that I tried it.
