Organic Vegetable Soup Review: Health Valley Organic Vegetable Soup
This Soup Wasn't Perfect but it Still Tasted Really, Really Good
Previously to getting to this vegetable soup I had also gotten two other foods from the Health Valley company. This included their Organic Organic Multigrain Maple Honey Nut Square-Ems Cereal and Organic Multigrain Apple Cinnamon Square-Ems Cereal. While their cereal wasn't something that I got regularly I was confident that I would enjoy what ever it was that they had to offer in this vegetable soup. The first thing that I noticed about the vegetable soup was that it had kidney beans in it. I thought that this sounded like it would taste really, really good. I was curious about what other vegetables that it had in it, so I read the ingredients again when I got home.
I always try and read the ingredients of foods while I am in the grocery store to make sure that they are vegetarian. The Health Valley Organic Vegetable Soup was no exception, as I wanted to make sure that it didn't contain any chicken broth. The ingredients of the vegetable soup were filtered water, organic potatoes, organic carrots, organic celery, organic tomatoes, organic peas, organic green beans, organic corn, organic onions, organic tomato paste, corn starch, organic broccoli, organic red kidney beans, organic evaporated cane juice, organic spinach, onion powder, garlic powder, concentrated lemon juice, white pepper, organic basil, oregano, bay leaves, cayenne pepper and organic sage. This sounded just wonderful and I couldn't wait to try out the soup.
Overall I thought that the Health Valley Organic Vegetable Soup was actually pretty good. I would have liked the vegetables to be just a tad bit firmer but they all tasted really, really good. The red kidney beans tasted really good and I thought that they were a very nice firmness and were not mushy at all. I didn't have any complaints about preparing the soup. All that the directions said to do was to not add water and to heat and serve the vegetable soup. Heating up the soup took less than ten minutes and it only dirtied a small pot, a spoon and a bowl if I didn't eat it out of the pot that I cooked it in. The vegetable soup was pretty filling too. If I was only having soup I would need to eat one and half to two cans to get full but if I had it some toast I could get full on just one can.
I knew the can of Health Valley Organic Vegetable Soup contained about two cups of soup because the serving size was one cup and there was about two servings in a cup. In each serving there was only ninety calories with twenty calories from fat. The vegetable soup did not have any salt added to it so the sodium was nice and low with only seventy milligrams. The rest of the nutrition fact for the soup included sixteen grams of carbohydrates, four grams of both fiber and sugars and three grams of protein. In the minerals and vitamins section vitamin A was listed with eighty percent, vitamin C listed twenty percent, iron listed ten percent and calcium listed four percent for a serving size of the vegetable soup. I thought that the nutrition facts looked really, really good.
The Health Valley Organic Vegetable Soup was on sale for three soups for five dollars, making each soup about one dollar and sixty-six cents or one dollar and sixty-seven. I didn't think that this was a bad price at all, since the soup was made with organic ingredients and all. I will definitely keep this vegetable soup in mind if I continue to get canned organic soups. I would recommend it to anyone who liked canned soups and is looking for a reasonably priced ones that are organic. Now while I can't say that the Health Valley Organic Vegetable Soup was the best canned vegetable soup that I have tried it is definitely one of the best. I truly think that being made with organic ingredients makes it taste better and better for you. For that reason I am very glad that I tried this vegetable soup and probably will keep one on hand in case I ever find myself craving a good vegetable soup.
