Organize Your Home Using Empty Containers

Tame the Mess and Organize Your Home!

Everyone has a junk drawer, or two, and many other things cluttering the countertops. Like me, you probably tell yourself all the time you need to organize things. There are many ways to organize your home using empty containers. Here are some ways I use them to organize my home.

Organize Your Home Using Plastic Coffee Containers

I buy the 1 pound 13.2 ounce plastic containers of coffee. They are durable, and big enough to hold small objects, as well as bigger ones. It seemed a shame to waste these containers.

One of them is used to organize all the pens I have. I had a lot of pens in the coffee table drawer and in an old pencil bag of my daughter's. I wanted one central container to find them. Now my pen collection is organized. Whether I'm crafting or writing, I can find what I need fast.

I collect shells and over the years have built up quite a collection. I have been using tins to store them in, but it was getting to be a hassle. The coffee containers are ideal for organizing collections. They hold a lot and you can use a magic marker to write what is in it on the side of the container.

Organize Your Home Using Metal Containers

I bought a set of inexpensive metal containers and intended to use them for flour and other dry ingredients. The canisters are used for organizing home and kitchen instead. One of the big ones hold spoons and measuring spoons by the stove. A smaller one holds extra straws from fast food places as well as extra plastic silverware. The smallest one holds hershey's kisses. The top goes on tight and it keeps them fresh for months.

Organize Your Home Using Tins

These are very handy for organizing your home, and come in all shapes and sizes. I have big, medium and small tins, so finding the perfect size is easy.

I use these containers to store many things. One holds all my votive and tea light candles. It saves space and helps organize the shelves. I don't have bags, boxes and loose candles sitting everywhere. Other tins hold craft items, like my glue gun, soldering gun, extra solder and glue sticks.

Organize Your Home Using Baby Wipe Containers

After having four children and going through countless baby wipes, I saw the wisdom of putting these to use once they were empty. They are small, stack well and fit just about anywhere.

I love to make crafts and have many loose items. Between ribbons, glue and various other items, it can pile up quickly. In order to organize similar items or at least find them quicker, the empty baby wipe containers became my storage bin of choice.

Organize Your Home Using Glass Jars

The glass jars I have were given to us at Christmas with homemade cookies in them. The cookies were yummy and I had another container to use for organizing my home.

I use them to store the tools I use to work on clay. I started making things with air dry clay five years ago. I have dental tools, rulers and many other tools. The glass jars are a great way to find exactly what I need without having to root around in a box.

These are just a few ideas on how to organize your home using empty containers. Organizing can be fun and hassle free.
