Organize Your Mind and Home for a Summer of Fun

It's Never to Late to Organize Your Summer

A way of rekindling some useful energy is by staying home for a revitalizing of self and family with just plain old fashion down time. Do you have a two week vacation for the summer? In the past I always enjoyed taking the first week of vacation time away from home and the second week staying home unwinding and reorganizing before going back to the "grind." That same mentality can be applied at home for two weeks. Consider taking the first week for home using that time to organize, finishing up projects and completing odd jobs. If that means reorganizing your home office, kitchen, bedroom or yard, you will be happy you did. The second week you will be able to fully enjoy the work you put into your first weeks efforts. Do you remember the serenity you set out to get when you first decorated your bedroom? You can get it back. If you have not tried decorating your room, then this should be the first thing on your list to do. We express ourselves by bringing in an atmosphere that is conducive to the things we love most in life. Do you love art? Then, bring in color. Do you love the fragrant smell of flowers? Then, bring fresh flowers and so on.

If you are the packrat type and need someone to encourage you to junk the stuff, then do it. "Throw it out!" Many collect sales papers, coupons, receipts and other paperwork, expecting to eventually get to it. If paper buildup is a problem and you haven't gone through it in the past two weeks to six months then odds are that you will not have much need for these items right now, so toss them.

Now, that your room is clean and cleared of the clutter so will your mind be clear of the clutter of things that causes procrastination. With a home vacation and extra time on your hands you can write letters to family and friends and have the time to actually mail them. What about anniversary cards and other greetings cards you sometimes forget to mail, perhaps this is the time to write them or at least purchase the cards in advance and have them on hand to mail when the time is right. If you take an early summer vacation, possibly invest in a grill for those weekend barbecues at home. Usually a backyard or patio barbecue is less work thank making all of the fixin's in the house and clean up is so much easier to manage. Less mess makes for a great summer success. The 10 weekends that come with the summer season will provide an additional 20 days of vacation time making for fun summer days ahead. So, with an organized home and clear heads you too can have many somber chuckles.

The word vacation is defined as a general leave of absence from a regular occupation for rest or recreation. A home vacation is worthwhile, enjoyable and most satisfying as you do something that totally benefits you and the family.
