In the kitchen, start with a pack of about six or eight hooks. Screw them in a row about two inches apart under a cabinet. Start at the wall and work your way to the front of the cabinet. You now have a place to store your pots and pans! I hung mine over the dish drainer so when I wash dishes I can immediately hang the cookware up to dry and be done with them. They are also great for coffee mugs.
Tip: Always make sure that the bottom of your cabinets is thick enough to support the hooks and whatever you intend to hang.
Wall hooks are really useful in the bedroom as well. Line them up along the wall in your closet to hang belts, ties, bags or even caps. Hang them on the bedroom wall to hang bathrobes or sweaters. If you don't feel good about putting too many holes in your walls, consider screwing the hooks into a board and then mounting the board on the wall. You can decorate the board to match your decor!
In the kid's room, get a few walls hooks and some small mesh laundry bags (you can usually find these at a dollar store as well). Put some of their seldom-used stuffed animals in the bags and hang them from the ceiling. Your kids will get a kick out of it and it will leave extra room in the toy box.
Use wall hooks in the bathroom for bath towels and hand towels; buy hooks in larger sizes to make a coat rack for the entryway. I made a shelf for my husband's fishing poles by screwing wall hooks underneath a long board and attaching two L brackets. Now there aren't any more fishing poles hanging around in the corner and the top of the shelf is just big enough to hold some of his small tackle boxes. You don't have to spend a lot of money to be organized, just be creative!
