The launch of digital cameras in the market enabled photography buffs to take and store pictures in an easier way. The gadget replaced traditional box containers with computers to keep your memoirs intact. What some don't realize is that computers become loaded with cluttered photos, which brings you to the basic of organizing your files.

Computers and the Internet gave reasons for enthusiasts to start their own computer scrapbooks. Everybody loves collecting pictures but don't know how to organize them. Photos become misplaced and worn out in time. Computers help you store your pictures while preserving their originality. This saves you time compared with looking at unorganized old photos in your storage box.

If you have old pictures printed in photo paper, you could have them scanned and converted in to digital photographs to store them in your computer. Technology offers you choices to keep your files the way you want them.

The first step in preparing computer scrapbooks is renaming your files. Digital photo software give default file names for your photo files. Make sure to rename these files after transfer into your computer. The file name should tell something about the picture to distinguish it from the rest.

Use titles or dates for your photo labels. Computer files come in alphabetical arrangement. This feature sort file names to help you click on your file quickly. If you opt to use dates, write '02282007' instead of using 'February 28, 2007'.

When you're done renaming files, make separate folders for each picture. Classify your photos according to event, date, location or any description that applies. Organized folders would help you recover your photos easier for future use. A well-structured computer scrapbook is a great tool especially if you have a busy life style and cannot cope with manual photo organizing.

Don't forget to back-up your computer scrapbooks. Spend on archiving programs that squeeze large files to help you save on disk space. It is advisable to stock backups on a CD or any removable disk if you defer printing of your pictures. Most CD writing tools often ask users to give a title for the CD. Rename the CD before starting the burn for your computer's recognition. Proper labels also help you restore your files more efficiently.
