Organizing Your Garage

Here are some tips that will help to clean up the clutter in your garage. It will be great when you get it all cleaned up and you will want to keep it that way. Here are some ideas so that you can do just that.

First, you should take all the things that are not being used and either have a garage sale or take them to an auction. You can make some extra cash when you sell them. Do not overprice your items because people will buy on impulse when they see a good price. If you think you might use something in the future then put these items in a separate place. You will not need to get to them for a while, so they can be stored behind other items that you might need.

You should then take anything that is not usable and throw it away. There is no need to keep things that are not usable in your garage. As you discard them, clean the area that they were in.

Empty Styrofoam egg cartons make wonderful storage compartment for odds and ends. Just cut the lid off with a pair of scissors.

If you have several filing cabinets, you can stack them up to the ceiling in the garage and use it to store many different things. You may wish to put old papers or other items in the file cabinets.

A great way to store your sports equipment is to hang it on the wall. This will give you more floor space to put larger items. You can also store your sports equipment on the top shelves of shelving units.

Another good idea for storing summer patio furniture and other outdoor things is to get a separate shed for the backyard. This will allow you to take several pieces out of the garage and free up some room.

Carpeting in the garage is not always popular, but it does make it more comfortable to walk on and less cold in the winter months. You can use old rugs from other areas of the home when they are worn out. They are easy to clean with a sweeper too.

One important piece of information is that someone needs to be delegated to keeping the garage in good order. Since many people use their garages for storage as well as keeping a car in them, someone needs to be sure to pick up things when they pile up. If you live alone, then you would need to. If boxes need to be put up on shelves this should be done regularly to keep the area organized. Sweeping and dusting in the garage is also necessary.

Once your garage is in good order you will love how organized you have become. Keep it clean and free of clutter and your garage will be the envy of your friends.
