Organizing Your Neighborhood Safety Watch for Halloween

Before you run out and organize your neighborhood watch you must be aware of a few things. First, you must be aware of the dangers that Halloween can bring. Halloween is known to bring strangers into your community that only has intent on bringing nightmares to families. Two, you must know the difficulties you will have to keeping your community safe on Halloween. If you can become aware of the problems and difficulties Halloween can bring then you are a step closer to putting together a successful neighborhood watch group.

Once you are aware of the potential problems that Halloween can bring start to assemble your watch group. Fist what you are going to do is talk to the residents of your community and see how they feel about your idea. When you have enough people onboard - is essential that everyone is - set a meeting at a location that is convenient for everyone in the community, some communities have a town hall where they have monthly meetings about the community. In this meeting you are going to want to set up goals that this watch group would like to achieve and a plan how things will be run. You are also going to select a strong leadership and a committee. The purpose for the leadership and the committee is so that everyone is a part of what you are doing and to be organized. This brings me to the task of both leadership and committee.

Leadership
The task of leadership is to have a person or a group of people that is in charge of giving out tasks to the watch group and to be someone that the community can count on when a problem occurs. Keep in mind that good leadership is the key to a successful neighborhood watch. If you have a leadership that it is selfish and lazy you will have a hard time getting people together for your watch group.

Committee
The purpose of creating a committee is so that those that are more interested in behind the sense work they can be a part of this group. The committee is usually the one that can bring out ideas on how to improve the neighborhood watch, create fundraisers and much more. They are basically the brains of the operation.

It is a good idea as well to talk to your local Police Department on how you can go out about putting together a neighborhood watch group and what procedures you should follow if they are any problems. Please keep in mind the purpose of this group is to keep your community safe so do not become a Rambo or anything of that nature. Be smart about everything that you do.
