Original Ped Egg Professional; Consumer Product Review
This Product Claims to Gently Remove Calloused Dry Skin
The ultimate foot file includes 2 emery finishing pads and has over 135 precision micro files that are safe to the touch. The shape of the Ped Egg is ergonomically designed and traps skin shavings with no mess.
The patents both U.S. and Worldwide are pending. Though this product is made in China it is only for sale in the USA.
The Ped Egg comes in a clear plastic package that is, 7 in x 10 in x 2 in size. The back of the Ped Egg states that the product is so gentle that when used on a balloon it will not burst the balloon.
The Ped Egg itself is made of white plastic and is 4 in x 2 ¼ in x 1 ¾ molded in the shape of an egg. It is what they state, ergonomically designed for comfort in your hand.
The Ped Egg is flat on the bottom with a rounded top. When the rounded top is removed from the bottom cover it reveals the blade cartridge. Within the bottom cover there are 2 self stick emery pads in a plastic package that are to be adhered to the bottom cover of the Ped Egg for finishing the feet by smoothing out the rough areas after using the Ped Egg.
The blades of the Ped Egg are similar to a cheese grater and when handled are for the most part safe to the touch. The blade compartment is designed to catch skin shavings for easy mess free disposal and easily pulls apart to empty and clean.
It is recommended that the Ped Egg not be used on dry feet and not to be used on skin that is not callused or smooth. The caution instructions also state not to use if you are a diabetic or have poor blood circulation and not to use the Ped Egg if the metal becomes rusted, bent or damaged to prevent injury. It is also recommended not to be shared or used by more than one person to prevent infections and not to be used by children.
The instruction manual states that the liability is limited to the purchase price of the product and that TELEBrands Corporation shall not be liable for any consequential or accidental damages of this product.
TELEBrands is located at 1 TELEBrands Plaza, Fairfield, New Jersey, 07004 and can be reached via website, telebrands.com or by calling toll free at 1 (800) 448-1027.
Upon using this product I was not satisfied with its performance. It is a glorified cheese grater and nothing more. The skin shavings are not contained within the egg housing and fall out, sprinkling flakes of dead skin all over your hands, feet and floor.
The Ped Egg removes dead callused skin leaving chunks of callus on the edges of the foot where the smooth skin meets the rough skin, causing large peeling slices of callused skin to pull away from the foot causing soreness and in some cases an open wound.
The emery attachment is probably the most effective mechanism of this product and does exactly what it is suppose to do, smooth out rough skin on the foot.
I would not recommend the original Ped Egg Professional to anyone, this product is a complete waste of money and does not provide the user with soft feet nor does it eliminate calluses and dry skin.
The Ped Egg is not like having a professional spa treatment right in the palm of your hand; it's an instrument of destruction that would be better left in the hands of medieval executioner.

Post a CommentI wrote a review of the same product with a very different result. It's the only thing that works on my feet! (And I do use it on dry heels...it works wonderfully!)
Thanks for the heads up.
I was thinking of trying one- thanks for the warnings.
Also, you got one detail wrong (which might be why you had some trouble using it): the Ped Egg specifically instructs it be used on dry feet, not wet. If your feet are wet, you're more likely to cause damage to the skin!
I'm with Donald and Silvia below; I have the Ped Egg and have had no trouble with it. You're basically just rubbing the Ped Egg across your foot; if you're applying so much pressure that it digs into your foot, you're sure to have troubles! But other than a little disappointment in the ability of the Ped Egg to trap the foot filings (you're right, it does tend to spill), I think the Ped Egg's a keeper!
Wow, I have had similar devices that worked okay but were nothing to write home about. I will definitely not buy this product. Thanks for the informative review.
Thanks for the honest review! I've been sucked in by TV promises, too.
Great review. Sounds like something I definitely need to stay away from ... sharp objects are not my friend!
Honest and totally riveting! Thanks.
Sooo, you don't recommend it as a cheese grater either?
