Original Wedding Dress Favors

meeker
I created this favor to look like a wedding dress. It was really fun to make and very simple once I figured out what I wanted to do. I found that a paper plate makes the best template and actually you can use paper plates to make these. You will want to use heavy card stock. I like to use Bazzill Bling cardstock because it is very sturdy and has a shine to it that looks nice when the light hits it. I buy the cardstock from www.joann.com. You can typically find it on sale at least once a month or wait until they have a 40 or 50% off coupon. You can find it at most craft or scrapbooking stores. I buy the 12x12 sheets.

Take one 12 x 12 sheet and cut it in half. Cut a paper plate in half and use one of them as your template. Line up the straight side of the paper plate with the straight edge of the cardstock and draw a line around the plate.

Cut a paper plate in half and use one of the halves as a template. Take one 12x12 sheet of cardstock and cut in half. Take one of the cardstock halves and turn it upside down so that the shiny side is facing down. Line up the straight side of the paper plate with the edge of the cardstock and draw a line around the plate onto the cardstock. Cut the half circle out of the cardstock. Flip over so that the shiny side is facing up.

Fold an 8" tulle circle in half and line the straight side up with the straight side of the half circle you just cut. Place two staples along the straight edge close to the ends. Roll the paper together to make a cone. Where the two ends meet, place a staple towards the edge or bottom. Leave a little opening. Cone should sit on the table without tipping over, large end should be bottom. This should now resemble the bottom of the dress. Cut a heart out of the excess cardstock or use a die punch. Make sure the side of the cone with the staples is facing in the back. Place a small amount of glue at the point of heart and glue to the front of the cone at the top.

Place candies inside a piece of 8" tulle. Tie it closed using a rubber band. I use those small hair rubber bands that are clear. You can find them at the dollar store for like a buck. Try NOT to center the candies. Try to put them towards one edge. This will give you a little more tulle sticking up on one side. Slide the excess tulle up through the hole you left in the cone. Pull the shorter tulle towards the bottom and staple. Pull the longer tulle up and over the heart to make it look like a veil.
