Original New Year's Eve Vodka Cocktails

Three Original New Year's Cocktails Surely to Impress

Jim Buckler
Vodka is the most popular spirit in the whole world thanks to its flavor and will be the most popular sprit consumed during New Year's Eve parties. Vodkas neutral flavor is due to its consistency of mainly water and pure alcohol, lending it as an extremely versatile mixer. Some people would even say that Vodka is a mixer with pretty much anything. Here are three original vodka cocktails sure to impress and entertain your guests this New Year's Eve. Remember to always drink in moderation, keep yourself hydrated with water when drinking alcohol and to never drink and drive.

New Years Eve Super Turbo Shandy

A shandy is traditionally a refreshing cocktail constituting lemonade mixed with beer in a 50/50 ratio. This variant uses a lemonade based alcopop such as Smirnoff Ice or Mike's Hard Lemonade and adds a shot of Vodka for extra punch. This is known as a Boilermaker cocktail which is typically a beer cocktail with a shot of whiskey, tequila, or vodka.

Ingredients:

6 fl oz lemonade-based alcopop

6 fl oz American Lager or American Light Beer

1 shot (1.5 fluid oz) of Vodka

Instructions: Pour ingredients into a pint glass, mix with a bar spoon and serve straight up without ice.

Sparkling Brutal Hammer

Traditionally this cocktail is made with French Red wine and Vodka in a 50/50 ratio. However, you can put your own New Years Eve spin on it by using a California Cabernet Sauvignon or even a sparkling Red wine such as an Italian Brachetto or an Australian sparkling Shiraz. Be careful however as the carbonation in the sparkling wine will cause the alcohol to absorb into your bloodstream faster than the original Brutal Hammer cocktail.

Ingredients:

½ part Sparkling Red wine (Italian Brachetto or Australian sparkling Shiraz)

½ part fluid oz Vodka

Instructions: Chill wine in the refrigerator and Vodka in the freezer for a couple hours beforehand. Pour contents into a Collins glass. This cocktail is meant to be served straight up without ice. Yell "To a Happy New Year" and slam the drink down in one big gulp.

The Beelzebub

The Beelzebub is an aptly named original cocktail inspired by the Vodka Redbull cocktail which very popular amongst club goers. Like the Vodka Redbull the combination of an energy drink with alcohol in this cocktail will surely let you "Party Like A Rockstar" all throughout New Years Eve. This cocktail is a fiery and spicy twist on the Vodka Redbull and definitely not for the weak; it will make you feel like you've been to Hell and back.

Ingredients:

1.5 fl oz Vodka

1.5 fl oz Cinnamon Schnapps

Fill with Cocaine brand Energy Drink

Instructions: Fill a Collins glass completely with ice. Add Vodka, Cinnamon Schnapps and fill glass to the top with Cocaine brand Energy Drink. The amount oCocaine Energy to alcohol can be also changed to taste if desired. The following instructions are optional but will surely impress your guests: Garnish with a jalapeño or habanero chili pepper. If desired, float 151 proof liquor on top and ignite remembering to extinguish afterwards.
